This is my beloved Son, with whom
I am well pleased; listen to him.

Gospel: Mark 9:2-10
Jesus took with him Peter, and James, and John; and he led them separately to a lofty mountain alone; and he was transfigured before them. And his vestments became radiant and exceedingly white like snow, with such a brilliance as no fuller on earth is able to achieve. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses; and they were speaking with Jesus. And in response, Peter said to Jesus: “Master, it is good for us to be here. And so let us make three tabernacles, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” For he did not know what he was saying. For they were overwhelmed by fear. And there was a cloud overshadowing them. And a voice came from the cloud, saying: “This is my most beloved Son. Listen to him.” And immediately, looking around, they no longer saw anyone, except Jesus alone with them.
And as they were descending from the mountain, he instructed them not to relate to anyone what they had seen, until after the Son of man will have risen again from the dead. And they kept the word to themselves, arguing about what “after he will have risen from the dead” might mean.

Reflection: How can the Transfiguration of Jesus inspire you to trust and follow His teachings more deeply, even in times of doubt?
Prayer: My transfigured Lord, You are glorious beyond imagination, and You revealed a small glimpse of this glory to Your disciples to help them trust You more fully. May I also trust in You more completely, knowing that all You have spoken to me is true. Please remove any doubt and fear in my life so that nothing keeps me from embracing Your holy will. Jesus, I trust in You.

A wonderful thought to ponder over. One can only wonder how overwhelming it must have been for those disciples to have been present in the presence of Jesus, Moses, and Elijah. There must have existed a serenity to the moment, an understanding how fortunate they were to this presence. With our first encounter with our faith, we to are traveling on uncharted waters and, like these disciples, we need to be reassured of the direction our journey is taking us towards. Fortunately for us, unlike the early disciples, we are blessed with God's word to give us direction and confidence of that journey. We are able to understand the meaning of the life of Christ through the truth that His word gives us on it's pages. The transfigured Lord is also an assurance to us, that there is life after death. Even though Jesus had yet to suffer and die at the hands of the Romans, He had shown those disciples that eternal life was awaiting them by the presence of Moses and Elijah. What would our reaction be to this presence? We know that both were dead and yet, here they are in our presence talking with our living Lord. I would suggest that we would have been in the same fear as they were. Therein is an understanding that there is a oneness in our spiritual lives and the hope of our eternal lives. Jesus Christ has been crucified, dead and buried! But in that action of love and compassion, came the truth! The resurrection! The truth that death has been overcome and through repentance and trust in His word as the truth, we can be born again to an everlasting life, one where, "there is no more death, sorrow, crying, or pain.", Revelation 21:4. It is through our faith, and the strength of it thereon, that we do not allow the finality of death to overcome our hope in our life after death with our risen Lord! Focus, keeping our lives focused on the prize He has promised!🙏💖🕊🕊🕊
