You guys have been through so much... Living in a small cabin with 7 people, the cabin fire, the move back into the big house, the hurricane damage and Grandama sickness through it all. Then dealing with the passing of grandma as you pull your life back together and finish moving in...I dont know how you do it and keep upbeat and positive but it's very inspiring. You all are still in my prayers.

Nice. You got time with each of your boys, chipper branches sorted & ready to go, plan for compost area and fill, plan for pasture repair before spring, "found" the neighbors bridge, food prepped, office egress cleared ( with most of it put away), closet shelf top sorted, ( need a shelf still), bed/ mattress sorted and bedroom reset... All while the beautiful one got all day shopping done... And the lamb roast going ... From experience, I can tell you that getting that sorted relieved a lot of the weighty exhaustion from that day of shopping. Happy day, indeed!

Justin, If you do not waste all those beautiful trees, and have them milled into lumber... I'd be willing to bet that Jonah could build you the most beautiful book shelves, and many other things as well. If you got a cheap log mill, Jonah could do all of it right on your property and you would have incredible lumber, from your own land, for all kinds of projects. Cut your own flooring for Jonah's place...etc What a wonderful way for Jonah to start his own business and channel.

I would say do plan on composition of the fill in area - you do want some more gravel and sand plus compost - do add compost to chips and hay to speed things along - you have a lot of damage to repair and you can keep clearing for a couple mos here just chipping away (pardon the pun). i think you will be on track for spring if you just keep poking away - have a sense of urgency but also be relaxed about it

I fast sometimes, but I allow myself black coffee, or tea with nothing in it. It really takes the edge off the hunger. Also I only ever fast for 1-2 days. Not 3 like you do. I find it really helps my joint pain in my bad ankle. Also I carb load the day before a fast. I will eat an Italian meal for supper the night before I start the following morning. By doing that I don't even feel hungry until evening, and I just go to bed. It's easier that way.

Voice of reason here - the person youre advising Justin to just let take over, only just turned 17 last week. Jonah is still a child. Almost grown but not quite done. You dont magically get treated like an adult because someone says you are. You grow into it, one day at a time. Its not that time.
@dragonflysky115 сағат бұрын
That child can run machines that many of us don't have the skills to make them move. Jonah runs the homestead when the parents went on business trips and is about to remodel a cabin to live in. From a young age, Justin has let them make decisions and learn from their mistakes. By doing so they are responsible and have excellant problem solving skills. He is teaching him how to be an adult and doing a good job at it.
@shelleypoole64155 сағат бұрын
In Elders, you have to earn the right to become one. You have to have lived and experienced life to be able to teach the young. Wise and to be able to tell stories that teach about the past. 17 is still young. Men don’t stop growing till 23, that’s what I heard… 😊

The only problem was the way Jonah was speaking to his father. Like an aggravated know it all. I notice him doing much better in this video. I believe they read & learn from the comments. That’s humility & maturity.

I think the Amish would disagree with you about age (it’s just a number!) I was married & had a baby at 17. In addition to caring for our child, I handled the family finances, paid the bills, took care of the house, shopped, cooked, cleaned etc. I was very mature bc of how I was raised. A number is just a number.

Several comments how comes he has to remind us every single solitary video that he's on a fast.... Yes actually fasting is excellent for you and instead of eating carbs or sugar you should eat protein which means you need to eat meat. No potatoes, no pastas. No cakes, pies cookies. None of that stuff but you obviously don't pay attention to what they tell you. You do this every couple of months. Flip-flopping first, you're on a fast then you're not and you feel great when you are. But then when you're not, you're miserable and you can't help out on the farm. You're the one that wanted to do this farm but yet you're dragging these kids around doing it with you. Also, when the oldest boys have ideas you second-guess them. They're young men and most of the time they're right, but you have to let them experiment and make mistakes if it's the wrong thing to do. Oh well they should try again. Also, who teaches these kids to put stuff away? You always have the dishwashers hanging open and there's no dishes in the cupboards. How does that happen when you have? THREE DISHWASHERS? 🤔😳😳

In Montana it's illegal to cut wood within twenty or thirty feet of a creek. All that dead wood helps to prevent erosion when the floods or high water comes and gives the fishes nooks and crevices to hide out in. Mother nature at her finest 🙂. Kinda is a bummer though when you want to float the river and have to haul your boat around all the log jams 😅

Johna has a dream too...but you may never see his beautiful ideas...remember he may inherit the farm...its his dream too...What will it hurt to give him room to show you his vision.......He has good judgement but it feels like it usually gets squashed. Because it's not Dads vision...But the things he has done turned out beautifuly....Let him show you his dreams...he's spent a lot of time thinking about how to do them....he is trying to help.....release your doubt...allow him room to grow..hes not enthusiastic because his ideas are always put down....If you release him to do it his way, he would feel better about himself....and you will be amazed...what if his dream is better than the one you had. And you never gave him the opportunity to share it...Hugs...Its not easy to let go of control but it is a giant sign of trust...and it will be the easiest , most rewarding thing, you ever did, once you do it. Free yourself of duties...give them away to those with a dream...

inflammation is a physical thing. It has matter and so it has weight. Mine is Arthritis, Bursitis and PAD. Yes u I fined fast helps but I cant for very long with out eating sugar b/c I am diabetic. I have have had these for almost 30 yr now. Ya they set in early. I had a Doc back in mid 90's who loaned me a book on it. Wish I could remember title but it is one of those things age has put in long turn stooge where access is not longer easy or I would give it to u. I only had her with the VA for one Pir Care but I worked with her by phone in figuring out how I could fast and for how long as a diabetic. Yes after just an 18hr fast my body feels better. When I do these 5 in row I lose as much as 8lbs and feel a hwll of a lot better. I do them the fist 5 days of every no. Maybe u need to set one up so that ur one meal a day thing can work. U see ur joints and nerves hurt b/c fluid has built up on and around them thus causing pain. Remove some of that fluid an some of the pain goes with it. It is not the fluid itself that causes the pain but the pressure it put on ur body that is the cause. Fasting the first thing u lose is water weight. U must get rid of it before fat will be converted to sugar and burned. Me right now have a little My weight is at 198. I am reduce water intake today I am carry to much. In summer time when out side sweeting I dont worry so much b/c water weight is being controlled by sweet pretty much. I have to make sure I drink enough then Have u noted any seasonal reaction in ur pain. Mine is worse with temp drop. Colder worse. So in winter time I may do such things as i will do over the next few days is reduce water and salts intake. My pain has gotten very bad with the years and today with temp around 30 I will stay inside and try to be warm and play here. Had to go to VA this morning for test. The walk out to the car hurt and those front steps of the VA. well lets say I almost died form my leg pain. Ya it gets that bad if I walk over 100 yrs. But like u I work through it knowing that if I dont it will get worse a lot faster. Doc at VA thought they would have me in wheel chair there by this time but No still going strong b/c I want to and no other reson.
