Maori are not indigenous to NZ as they paddled there from all over the Pacific not they were the earliest settlers. and I understand only the Aborigines of Australia are an indigenous peoples who also did not develop like Incas etc until again Britains arrived with a few French thrown into the mix, although there was not the same feeling shown towards the existing peoples as was shown to the Maori tribes.
