They did go out of their way to say she looked beautiful both ways and that it was just a different look. Curly-haired people got straightened, straight-haired people got curled, light-haired people got darkened, dark-haired people got lightened. But I agree that African hair is beautiful.

BUT NEVER forget the racist undertones of straight is acceptable & kink is NOT good enough/ professional/ the look we want/ not pretty/ ....etc. And this racist notion is both with black & white people to such a degree that one is denied work & opportunities & put down because of it.
