I have been an extremely heavy cannabis smoker for over 30 years. I had given up hope I was able to ever quit it. Not only did Psylocibin make me not want to smoke, it also addressed the underlying problem. Magic stuff. So it can be used for other addictions as well.

The founder of AA advocated the use of psychedelics for treatment. I'm not sure of the details, but the idea got shut down. I've used psilocybin for depression and it works fabulously well. I had major depression and was fortunate to be able to eliminate anti-depressant drugs 3 weeks after my psilocybin dosing. I've been depression free since 2019.

Yep. It was called the 13 Step Program in the 50s. Interestingly enough I believe the founder also credited some of his overcoming of alcoholism to datura or belladonna as well.

One of The founders of The 12 Step was one of the very first people who tried LSD as a medicine for Addiction and neurotic house wives lol

@@Ryan88881 it definitely wasn't datura or belladonna because these 2 substances are delirients. Unlike Psychedelics, delirients give the user a hellish trip and see scary hallucinations and they will not be able to distinguish the hallucinations from real life. Bill took LSD I think. Psychedelics can help people if used responsibly and some psychedelics are used in religious ceremonies as a sacrament like Peyote in Native American traditions.
@Ryan888812 жыл бұрын
@@andrewortiz5797 Ok first of all it *was* either Datura or Belladonna, I didn't just make that up. It was called the belladonna method but Bill mostly pushed the LSD method. You can research this stuff yourself. I very well know the difference between psychedelics and deliriants, everybody does at this point. "delirients give the user a hellish trip and see scary hallucinations and they will not be able to distinguish the hallucinations from real life." Uh no. I've taken datura dozens of times as well as brugmansia and it's not like that. In fact datura helped me quit abusing weed. "Bill took LSD I think. Psychedelics can help people if used responsibly and some psychedelics are used in religious ceremonies as a sacrament like Peyote in Native American traditions." Duh.. Lol I didn't know captain obvious was making a special guest appearance here. Also yeah, let's just ignore the fact that Native Americans used Datura as a sacrament too; and for thousands of years before peyote. Mescaline hasn't even been shown to be that effective for treating addiction compared to other psychedelics.
@andrewortiz57972 жыл бұрын
@@Ryan88881 it's really quite hard to believe datura can give people Insight. It causes meaninglessness hallucinations and is not introspective. The trips can be hellish for most. I do not see smoking imaginary cigarettes insightful and seeing shadow people. Psychedelics have helped people and people use all sorts of things. There is Something Greater than Psychedelics and it's Free. It's Called The Mystical Experience. Many people pay alot of money just to go use Ayuasca and other substances at retreats. The Mystical Experience Is Free and Is Available to us Right Now. And we don't have to pay.

Bill Wilson, co founder of AA , gave much credit to LSD in reaching his sobriety. The Aa board members refused to allow him to express his views regarding LSD and his spiritual experience resulting therefrom. Too much money to be lost by so many if they allow hallucinogenic medications to be used. Sad.

LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Alcoholism runs in families. My mother was an alcoholic. Her three brothers died of alcohol-related disease when they were young. When I began drinking, it was socially, at first. Then the disease progressed. Having seen what was coming, I desperately tried everything to quit. I tried and failed, tried and failed. One day, out of desperation and in front of a bunch of tourists at the local pier, I got on my knees and with tears in my eyes I begged God with all my being to take away my need to drink. That was the last day I drank. All desire for alcohol vanished in an instant. It's been several years now and I am grateful for God's grace. 🕊My prayers go out to all suffering from alcohol addiction. Never give up! Your body is the temple of your soul. Keep it clean.

I’m curious if some people would need more doses then these people.. for people who aren’t aware if you struggle with severe psychiatric disorders you should be careful when it comes to Hallucinogenics and doing them by yourself… of course this was done in a professional setting with doctors who know what they are doing. This is amazing as someone who has two parents that struggle with addiction this could help so many people.. also nowadays there are more options than just AA and rehab for people who struggle with alcohol addiction. Alcoholism is a disease it’s definitely more than just oh I’m sad I’m gonna drink. Genetics your environment growing up and whether or not you’ve had trauma are huge factors for addiction..

Even Bill Wilson tripped. They like to sweep that under the rug. 12 steps were incredibly helpful but the cult like atmosphere where they says take what you need and leave what you don't but that rule only applies to the people in charge who control the same meetings for years and years and years and have way too much power these days..... and how much sexual abuse is rampant with the newcomers et cetera. The 12 steps were awesome with somebody who knew what they were doing, but after that it was all ego fighting for Popularity points, or who has the most sponcies (minions), or young girlfriends etc.. The suggestion to work your own program is wasted when People are so controlling that they've all individually found the holy Grail and they force it on everybody else. I missed the days when I could sit and listen to God through people's shares and find hope and strength. I started calling out people for some of the abuse and I got gaslit and bullied out quick. My sobriety date remains the same- April 2015. But the meetings will tell you that I'm relapsed because I can't handle the toxic nature of the meetings anymore. 🤦♀️ peace in love, man....

48% after 8 months is similar to many rehabs. As a side note most people entering rehab are there for the courts so many are not ready to stop. The type of awakening produced by psilocybin is similar to that hoped for with the 12 steps. Many who have failed AA never worked the steps. Addiction is a losing battle. Unfortunately too many die. Anything that helps needs our support. Let me state the obvious, millions of us have gobbled down mushrooms and not gotten sober.

Placebo effect much? There is so much wrong with this study that is it almost worthless. Both the therapist and the patient knew they were getting psychedelic that the the doctor (aka white coat effect) might help. How do you match the experimental and groups for factors that might influence differences in outcomes? Childhood abuse and neglect? Genetic components? Previous therapy? He variation from therapist to therapist? Previous use of psychedelics? Openness to use of psychedelics? Resistance to traditional therapies? Post divorce or not? Religious or not? At a minimum there should have been at least single blinding. Different groups should have been given psychedelics, THC, ketamine, caffeine, soporific, NMDA, and sugar. And cross overs of independent and anonymous to other therapists for first and second doses. Just going to say. I hate popular press science reporting. It undermines public trust in reputable science. It probably contributed to the lose of lives during the C disease years.
