You got this! 55 was a tough number for me…I’m now 57 and am completely fine with my “experiences in life” presenting itself on my face…neck..legs (droopy skin astound my knees on my skinny legs 😛). It’s okay…and I don’t think we need to be injecting our bodies who have carried us through our lives with chemicals to falsely appear to be more youthful than we are. Happy Birthday in advance to you! Plan a blowout party with your friends 🙌🔥

As a 55, I'm happy to hear this. Getting old has it's privileges, feel-free to indulge. That doesn't mean to not care how we look, gray hair should be a cue towards wisdom. Keep in mind that billions are earned every year by companies that are paying to convince YOU that you NEED something that you might not even really want. It takes a toll on a human. We may not be breeders anymore, but we make the best nests.

I've always cared about being in good health, eating healthy and staying physically fit to stay well. I'm 70 but look 15 years younger because I take care of ME. A wrinkle or two is a sign of wisdom and character..Botox makes faces look fake and frozen(look at Nancy Pelosi's eyebrows..they are 1/4 from her forhead) That is not natural.Stay engaged,,join a walker's group, be creative, have fun and you will stay younger and vibrant. And Poo Poo the nay sayers!!!

Going to be 54 here. Experiencing ageism and how cruel it is in particular to women. It's ridiculous. Even Don Lemon got into trouble for telling an all female panel how women are in their primes from 20s to 40s. Don Lemon west down in my eyes to bottom of barrel. No man is told he is long in the tooth in his 50s and beyond, but women are. News flash: a woman's freaking fertility has nothing to do with running for office or politics. Misogyny needs to stop. Don can go punt!

Ageism is real. Being denied employment opportunities because of age is real. Not being seen as attractive because of aging is real. Being left for someone younger is real. Being seen as not relevant because of age is real. Stop making people feel like it's always their fault or their responsibility to change the story. People have the right to do whatever they need to do in order to be happy with themselves, to be able to walk out the front door with confidence.....because there is criticism and judgment waiting everywhere you go. Not everyone has the luxury of saying "f" the world, I'm fabulous.

In Asian culture, age is revered. It is considered an honour to have elders at weddings, funerals, religious rites and most celebratory occasions. If a young person walk in front of any elder he/she is to lower the upper body a bit, as a sign of respect. Everything in the world aged and dies, our cells are aging. The moment we are conceived we're aging inside the mother wombs. It is natural life cycle.

I fricken LUV Justine!! She's just so real! Not plastic! inside or outside!!. It's such a struggle sometimes to accept the aging process when there's so many girls and women out there following the cosmetic injectables trend!! If your not doing it your looked at like your alien! But really all I see is people not being happy with who they are and that's really sad! I never want to be part of that trend!! I have considered it at 43 but I know that the way I look is my all part of my story, and that's the way it should be!! I never want my daughter's to feel like they need to change to fit the mould that society expects!! And that starts with me modeling confidence without cosmetic surgery.

My dearest and best friend…6 years older than I (I’m 57) sizes up EVERYONE…woman or man…she comments how old they look….I occasionally remind her that “not ever is interested in getting Botox and fillers every six weeks to please others”. This is something she does and I believe she is unaware that she would look like the rest of us if not for spending 1800 bucks every 6 or 8 weeks to maintain her plastic appearance and unusually large upper lip. We only think aging is ugly because that's what we've been taught to believe. Usually by men who are trying to sell us something. And it's only going to get worse too, because few people age naturally anymore. If you're a young kid now, you've probably never seen a person who has aged 100% naturally, so when you finally do, of course it will look ugly, shocking, and grotesque to you. I'm in my 60's now, and my looks definitely aren't what they used to be. But then, they aren't supposed to be! I definitely understand the temptation to intervene, but so far I've done nothing. I never used botox or fillers. I'm resisting as long as I can.

True. Justine has smoked many years I read. She looks 15 to 20 years older than her age of 57.

This is so true. If she is a smoker, her external appearance is very much a reflection of that, which is not normal aging but accelerated.

@@MaryBeth1965 she does not? Do you know 55+ aged people? (In real life, not filtered, and no Botox) She looks her age. ❤

@@alisonf6478 I'm going to be 58 in August. My pic here is from 2 months ago. I have no wrinkles...have had zero botox or any work. The key is I have not smoked ,drank, or stayed in the sun a lot. I am a mom of 4 adults and 1 grandchild. Many people think my 32 year old daughter is my sister. Justine looks much, much older than my friends ...all her age. Born in 1965 and 66.

The thing about aging is … it’s always better than the alternative.

Cheers to Justine Bateman for telling it like it is - age is gonna happen and life certainly does get better with time - if only women weren't made to feel like they should be denying their age (all the "anti-aging" commercials that dig in how much you have to try to worry about it!) - be yourself - treat yourself well and be the best version of yourself at that stage of your life. Prayers up for all 💕🙏👍

I watched her on Family Ties, loved her then and love her even more now! I once heard something I won’t forget. A lady asked her friend, “That’s a great project for you!” The friend answered, “I can’t do it, it takes five years to finish and I’ll be 50 years old when it’s completed.” The lady replied, “So how old will you be in five years if you don’t do it?” ☺️

I love Justine Bateman and truly admire her for being so honest and inspiring, however as I hear her talk I can't seem to think that embracing aging and all the baggage that it brings is probably more humbling and empowering for wealthy people, celebrities like her who don't really have to care about what others think of them because they have it made. They get that option because unlike everyday normal middle class regular women, they don't have to worry about getting a job or building a name for themselves, so it seems a little bit out of touch for her to imply that the fear of getting old and not looking good enough or young enough to get hired for a job and survive in the real world is not a real tangible thing that many women's struggle with, because they still have to figure out how they're going to put food on the table or get the money to pay for their rent or their mortgage if they're even that lucky otherwise they will end up on the streets homeless. Unfortunately we live in a world that doesn't necessarily embrace or honor the carved faces of wise old women, it's quite the contrary and it's great to see that women like her are real pioneers who are trying to break that mold and showing that they're comfortable with themselves and they love themselves so they can inspire the new generations to do the same and not feel pressured to change the natural aging process or try to rejuvenate themselves just so they can be accepted in society but unfortunately that is not the reality for many women who are not that privileged. It's unrealistic to assume that every regular middle class woman, or that women who live in real poverty should not be governed by those fears of aging but I can see how its a lot easier for a wealthy woman to come out and say hey I don't give a **** about my aging face because she don't need to worry about where her next paycheck is gonna come from.
