I've had the pleasure of catching and releasing 3 blue gills over 10". Two 10.5" and one 11". Trills of a lifetime hopefully to be repeated this year. I loved your comment about a 10"+ bluegill being as special as a 50" Muskie. Love to catch both species. Thanks for a great video and educating people about preserving big bluegills. They are a treasure not to be wasted. What do you think about slot limits for bluegill?

Glad you guys discussed the importance of releasing the trophy (larger) bluegills. I know lots already know this but I didn't hear it mentioned in the video or see it in the comments...... When the largest of any species (gills, crappie, bass, muskie, pike etc.) are harvested / removed from the lake the genetics go bye bye too. Not only are you removing a 10" bluegill from the lake TODAY, you are also removing the 10" bluegill genetics (that particular fish possesses) from the lake "F O R E V E R" . . . to quote the Sandlot

Countryside West Park in Lake Zurich has massive bluegill NO JOKE but you have to come in late fall when there are no weeds it gets really bad in summer

Excellent bluegill fishing and video! Indeed, the top tier fish must be released to maintain quality, long-term genetics for big fish.
