It was so different from his two first films, it took a lot of time to get used to. I was surprised you didn't talk about the editor Monika Willi because the film clearly felt like a Michael Haneke film to me. I need to rewatch the film asap, I feel like there are many layers to discover on repeat viewings.

I saw Tar twice and will watch it again. Lydia Tar is a complex character that gave me mixed emotions. On one hand, she is someone who definitely used her power to satisfy her own needs but on the other hand, it makes me wonder at what point in her life influenced her need to take advantage of that. I saw this wonderfully talented composer who through her love of music, created impeccable work but as any human, she was incredibly flawed and even though she tried to control her own narrative, it snowballed out of control. The only real relationship that touched me so deeply was with Petra. I saw in that a woman, who wanted desperately to go back to her own innocence. One of my favorite and heartbreaking scenes is where she is watching those videotapes, wearing a medal around her neck and crying. I felt for her and her humanity even with all the chaos and lives she destroyed in her past. Especially her own. I know when I watch this again, I will see something I missed. This movie really puts the information in the audience’s hands to make their own conclusions which is think is remarkable. I believe Todd really had a great respect for his audience.
