HAVE BERT READ THIS: A metaphor for understanding the difference in how various people process information is the Myers Briggs Type Indicator. I don't think it's God's answer to understanding oneself and other people, but it really helps. There are a ton of videos on youtube explaining said test, and you can take the test on-line. I would guess Bert is an intuitive-feeler, one who follows his gut, and one who makes decisions based on feelings. Tom is probably a sensate-thinker; one who likes data and facts, and one who makes decisions using his mind and said data. I thought of this when Bert mentioned Segura. I have a friend like TS. It is so much easier to deal with him now that I know we are opposites.
