Interesting fact. Powell was not originally the serial rapist. Sean m gave an exit interview saying a body double did the attacks & he was told lunas therapist was gonna be the rapiat ( that creepy brent ) than they decided powell & Rebecca's stories were too dependent on todd so they decided to write them out. Also they wanted to show most rapiats do it again so they used powell to show that instead of todd to keep him.

I believe it was on the oltl abc forum that linda gottlieb was out & todds real redemption writer josh griffith left. So micheal malone who created todd only to redeem marty & actually wanted todd & zack gone to make powell the one to stay. Sean m when given the material was great but fans revolted against him being " the good rapist" rhs rise & popularity plus the emmy got malones wheels turning about todd & marty b/c fans really wanted it. Anyway he was told powell had to go same as zack & rebecca b/c they had nowhere to go anymore w/ them as they were too dependent on todds story as rh just dominated. So the fans wanted powell to finally pay as he got off too easy. Todds character wiped out a lot of actors. Jason & suede had to go b/c their ex cons w/ attitudes story was nowhere near as compelling as this ex con. They also didnt need jason as the actress who played his aunt wanda wanted to retire after she was on the show since the 70s & renee took over as the woman who helped the underdogs. Leeann was long gone they were pushing marty w/ dylan which fans hated. Then they tried to have andrew & marty hook up that was too much a betryal after how andrew & cassie forgave her & were the first 2 to protect & nurture her after the rapes. They fired kirk geigers kev8n b/c they felt he was too short next to todd & recast little brother joey. Even susan complained in an article she wanted marty to be more than the victim. She gave an interview as well saying it bothered her that so much mail & polls picked her & todd as a couple & ironically said " for marfy to be w/ todd shed have to have a total mental break or brain danage ( hence the am esia w/ fake todd ) max & cord became total throwbacks in this 90s era sadly. Cord w/ andreas tina could have made it but he was upset that tina was gone as was jdp who constantly whined that " the long haired kid took over " years later he admitted he was nealous of rh & hated his onscreen wife w/ the new " big cahunna when he should have accepted someone else took his place" he also said he hated the todd blair max triangles where max always lost. So many characters were eclipsed by todd & when luna was milled off malone tried to right hos wrong & pair todd & marty & blair & max. Malone actually saw blair as scarlett to maxs rhett. He copied a lot of movies & literature gone w/ the wind his fave. Anyway i found all these articles but ud have to scroll way back on the sbc oltl forum. Its hard to see how they coupd keep powell & rebecca as they played out that triangle w/ the same beats for well over a year. Sean was told & said be was sad but not surprosed when the writers & abc didnt see his character viable. Marty rachel kevin all graduated powell was shipped to calif to rewrote the hospital rapist story. Yes sean said it was supposed to be that creep brett as a possible & at times they didnt know who but as they tested todd w/ blair & got much better responses as fans were sick of rebecca & they wanted todd moved on to the vets making him vikis brother the ultimate coup to be vikis sibling as the queen of the show. Powell was some 2nd cousin who viki had zero scenes w/ or chemistry. She didn't even get to react to powell being the hospital rapist. Basically sean m said he wasnt mad e joyed playing powell over the edge & also agreed he didnt like powell written as " the good rapist " the serial rapist story was to get todd blamed & push marty into the alibi voming foward & making peace w/ todd to rnd their saga & brent or a random when powell was no longer viable was the most powerful way to end the whole kad sping flimg dafa that ran for almost 2 years. All ill say is once powell snspped i actially really wanted a wrap up story where hos character finally said why he raped todd other than peer pressure. He had a demented obsession w/ todd . Snc didnt want to touch s closeted undtable young mans obsession w/ todd as they didnt want to put any message out there. Its the same ss them wanting to write joey as gay bit abc freaked not ever wanting victoria lords son gay. So they put it all on billy & sndrew.

Marty must feel like a real ass when she realizes that Todd didn't do it. It added a lot to the story by making Marty Todd's alibi. Brilliant thinking on the part of the writers. Too bad they don't put as much thought into the stories these days.

How could todd still be saying " i love u: when she put him in jail. She also only saw a man in a ski mask. What police would arrest him for a man in a ski mask! Alice also b/c of marty said it was todd yet he wssnt arrested.

So they got Todd in jail but the real attacker is still out there so i'm waiting for the real attacker to strike again then it will prove that Todd is INNOCENT & that everyone were WRONG about Todd so yeah i like that b\c i can't wait to see the look on all of their faces when they find out that Todd is INNOCENT.

It's interesting to note that Dorian was on death row and Todd was in prison at the same time. I think they were both released by 4th of July!
