It's ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medication, tradenamed Motrin and Advil. It can cause kidney injury, stomach ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding. I hope Todd is under the care of a competent medical provider who frequently monitors his lab studies and orders GI endoscopies . . . .

@WinstonTexas829 Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that might reduce somewhat the gastrointestinal damage caused by taking NSAIDs, but it doesn't ameliorate the nephrotoxic (kidney-damaging) effects of NSAIDs. Their harm to the kidneys is particularly prevalent in the elderly (a classification for which, in medical terms, Todd qualifies) and can result in both acute and chronic kidney failure with the need for dialysis and/or kidney transplantation. Either eventuality would likely end a touring career. So please, Todd, if you're gonna take NSAIDs as you've described, make sure that you have regular testing of your serum creatinine and BUN levels!

As a former biochemist, I agree and you're absolutely correct. As a TR fan since I was 12yo, I'm grateful for TR's decades of innovation and creativity, and I too want him to continue to live and thrive and create more. But TR's demonstrated over and over how ridiculously intelligent, self-aware and kind he is, and I have to respect he will do what's best for himself. 🌿🌸📿
