I love Todd. He just may be my favorite drummer. Well-rounded, a humble, down-to-Earth "regular" guy.

Todd is unbelievably kind and generous and wants to teach and share what he has learned - i am fortunate enough to open for these big classic rock bands that I grew up with and of all the people I have met - Todd is by far the coolest - I was at a clinic of his too and I highly recommend it to anyone on any level- He even helped me and answered some questions for me 4 months after we first met - First class dude And a monster behind the kit

First saw (and heard of) him in 1996 when he first started with Styx! Was amazed at his playing, and knew that he would be one to follow. Over the years, YT videos, and the odd release with him, then when the DRUMEO stuff started clicking, I watched a lot of his videos. Great technique, great player, and just love hearing him. Went to see Styx last month, mainly to see him live again, and was blown away! For the budding drummers out there... FOLLOW THIS GUY, YOU WILL LEARN!!!

I have seen Todd Sucherman (Styx) in concert more than once and the performance is real. They give 110% performance and love to the audience every night they're on stage. All are extremely talented musicians, and Sucherman is like a machine on those drums. I'm a drummer, nothing compared to Todd Sucherman, but I have played drums and seeing Todd Sucherman play is an honor. He is a master on the drums and I very much appreciate him as an artist/musician. Thank you, Todd Sucherman!

Of course hes talking about the drum waiter thing can hold your watch as hes wearing an AP Royal Oak lol! Also his HH Sessions Ride is a voodoo magic cymbal. Everything he says about it it spot on and the 20 years or so they apparently worked on it was worth it.

i love Todd's playing! He takes what could be seen as a "legacy" band gig and doesn't coast. I won't show shade as a generation X kid myself. My favorite older 90's bands are doing the same touring circuits. But you know where I'm going, some of these younger guys take gig with these older legendary bands. But the bands basically do a greatest hits set and the drummer just does cheesy classic rock power moves and straight ahead timekeeping. And it can make the music boring. Todd keeps Styx fresh with killer chops that are exciting without being too flashy, but not cheesy. He drives the band and gives them energy. A drummer on a drum forum once posted he was was very disappointed in the drummer of a long touring "legacy" older band he went to go see. He felt the older band members looked tired and unenergetic, ran though their old hits like they had a million times before, and the newer younger drummer kept everything sounding stale and boring. When he did try to add excitement it came in the form of of those cheesy predictable rock drum licks I mentioned before. "Triplet stick twirl!" The poor guy felt like the band almost needed to retire! (I won't name the band out of respect.) But Todd always keeps it new, fresh, inspired and fun. He keeps Styx from sounding tired and boring, which is a sad thing older bands that have been touring for fifty years or so can sound like. He gets it and respects Styx's legacy, but also does his thing and has fun and we love him for that.

@LumerdrumsАй бұрын
yeah, I don't get his mix. Such awesome drums and mics, but his overheads have the most nasty mids boosted and his shells have no attack left. No mids, nothing. To get audix mics, to sound that weird you gotta EQ the hell out of them. Imo they sound better with no processing at all. But he plays great, so what do I know :D
@MaxCustomАй бұрын
@@Lumerdrums да, его микс отличается от многих других , которые я слышал. Но думаю, что в зал идет совсем другой звук, и там все в порядке. Возможно это сделано для лучшей фокусировки на игре барабанщика.
