Charlie having that moment where he misses his friends at 9:45 is beautiful. Shows us just how human these guys are and how important it is to commemorate their music. To all the people complaining about this being Pantera reunion or not just think about whats going on through their heads when playing Pantera music. Let's be grateful for all this an leave the negativity im your pocket.

It's not Pantera, obviously, but they are still doing their thing and I wouldn't mind hitting up a show sometime if I get the chance. It's tape of some sort. I'm willing to bet its there for two reasons. It's likely got metal under it of some sort, maybe even a Danmar kick pad as it looks big. This would help with getting some click to the mics, and it would also help with the trigger. You could dial back the sensitivity of the trigger because of the added sharp contact of the metal to the beater causing far less mis-triggers. Would be super helpful on songs like Becoming. In my experience those Danmar kick pads fall apart, the tape helps get much more use out of it.

He said the kicks are 22's so he can fit the rack toms, and Vinnie played 24's. And yes, like others said they're patches of tape or something with something behind it, likely to add Vince's signature kick click. Yeah, Charlie is now saying the sound is 70% acoustic and 30% triggers.

Nice to see I'm not alone in miking my snare drum with a 58! I've been wondering if anyone else does the same.
