I imagine the .7 lumens red would be a good hanging upside down with the defuser off in a tent for a night light. Additionally, in my experience having a low setting on a lantern provides an appropriate amount of light at the campsite that helps retain your night vision for when you step away from camp.

I've been using this as my bedside light for the last 2 years. I put foil on one side of the diffuser so the light is out of my eyes but still fills the room.

I have 3 of the D cell versions, and AA to D adapters for them. AA and D are both 1.5 volts, so get a 2xAA to D adapter for each D cell, and only stock one smaller battery format.
@fixman885 жыл бұрын
I've had the D Cell version for a while now; I didn't know they made a AA one! I'll probably end up getting one. In terms of battery availability, AAs are by far the most common type of battery out there; D cells are a lot less common these days.

I have the d cell version and 2 AA lanterns. One is coyote color and the other is the bright neon yellow with the magnetic base. I plan on getting all of the other versions as I LOVE this lantern. It is amazing and I will buy a bunch in case they stop making them. The Seige X looks cool too! Synergy makes some quality rechargeable D cells (centura) if you are in the market. I have tested them with a smart charger Accu power IQ 338 XL and after a few cycles they were all above or at the rated capacity of 10000 MaH. Most batteriy companies inflate their MaH capacity ratings. I've had these batteries for a couple years and they are working great!!!

Tenergy. Makes the D cell batteries (Centura). I mistyped it as synergy.

@@twhite19782012 I like the Tenergy rechargeables. The Seige X looks cool, but I heard it can't run normal button top 18650s because it uses a longer USB 18650 styled battery exclusive to Streamlight.
@twhite197820124 жыл бұрын
@@todderbert I do believe you are correct about the battery for the Seige X. Outs not entirely a bad thing though. Yes it's a little more expensive for that battery but it does have a built in charging circuit to prevent over charging and over discharging which is a problem with lithium ion batteries and a major contributor to the news stories about batteries "exploding". There are other batteries however that are not exclusive to Streamlight and thus not as expensive. So pros and cons, I guess?

Great for room with little light. Electrical not working so I need small light to light up room

i like the Siege AA its small easy to carry in camping and its floats, i like the AA battery that i can carry a spare of Alkaline AA batteries during long days of camping no worries of recharging and easy to dispose. Easy to find AA size batt. I use AAA battery on my headlight and My Garmin GPS also use AA battery. I dont like not like the newer once that uses 18650 and 21700 batteries or the build in batt that needed to be charge thru folding solar panels or powerbank. I only use my powerbank back up for my device like phone and camera.. Its better to pack light in long camping trips. For home use i use rechargeable batt like eneloop to save money on batteries.

A great review there mate. I'm wondering if it can take the rechargeable Panasonic Eneloop battery? Will it cause any issues?

It works with Eneloops without issue. Just had some in for testing.

IKEA rechargeable batteries are Panasonic Eneloop repackaged from my findings. A pack of 4 go for about $8 or so.

I know this video is a year Energizer now makes a lantern of the same size Roughly the same lumens The top comes off and everything like that light It only has 2 settings high and low

Why does everyone always make battery-powered devices run on 3 batteries? Why not 2, or 4? Stores sell batteries in 4, 8, and 10 pac only, so if you get either pack you’re always left with an uneven set of batteries or not enough. Rarely do you see a 6-pack sold. It’s a conspiracy i tell ya, a conspiracy to sell you more batteries than you want or need.

LED's run at 3v nominal so having 3 battery makes sense for simplicity of the electric circuitry. If you have 2 battery you need a boost circuit to raise voltage for the LED and that also causes efficiency losses. If you have 4 batteries you need a buck conversion or stronger current limiting and again adds to the circuitry to lower the voltage.
@kenjifox42647 ай бұрын
@@jeffgendron1959 they should invent a LED with higher voltage then
@jeffgendron19597 ай бұрын
@@kenjifox4264 That would be cool. There are 3v, 6v, 12v, 24v, 36v, 48v, 110v etc.. LED's but those are adding LED bins together in multiples of 3V nominal typically. There are some outliers like some red and blue LED's that will run in the mid 2v but not the nice while LEDs that are closer to 3V for peak performance.

Looks like it may. It has C-Clips, though they appear difficult to access.
