hello todderbert today my new friends arrived. On the 25th was my birthday I ordered a XHDATA D-808 with microusb and white light screen and I also received a XHDATA D-220 as a gift. I have seen both of them in your presentations and I am very happy with them. Greetings from Romania!!!

Cool that you can still find the older 808 model.

I might have a different firmer than yours, but is that why you can see the text at the bottom for the radio stations? Or is that stock?
@todderbert7 күн бұрын
@@RadiumZ1 The stock firmware should have RDS, usually showing the Program text. The ATS_EX firmware allows you to cycle the different RDS types. It is not perfect, but works.

Cool radio! Happy Holidays!

It is decent out of the box, and excellent with a firmware upgrade, and a little resistor mod for the battery status display.

I'm delighted to see you review the 20+ at last Todd, I have been using mine for a few months now & love it. They are great fun, mine arrived with v3.0.4 firmware & I've just left it on that. There appears to be plenty of options going forward with this little radio, regarding modding, firmware etc. I have even tuned into hams in Australia, the USA etc just using a long wire. Great video, best wishes from Scotland 👍

Thanks! It is one of the best value radios on the market. May not have all the bells and whistles, but what it can do is amazing.
@lew92237 күн бұрын
Yes, it certainly is, whole lot of fun, retro looking too. One caveat to note is that these radio's are made in a variety of places in China, some are not so good. The one to buy has a sharp A in the ATS logo, some inferior ones have an "arched" a, kind of like a roof shape. Thanks, all the best

At the price it is selling for to have an aluminum case is amazing. Also for what it can do it seems like it is better than any of the Eton or Tecsun portables being sold. Someone needs to make a medium wave antenna that could be used with that radio, a whip is poor for those low frequencies.
@todderbert6 күн бұрын
@@n9ntm1992 They do, any passive loop that can be directly connected to this radio will make it rock on the MW band. I have a few videos coming up that shows that off.

Hej Todderbert, thanks for the review. The ATS+ multiband receiver seems to be a very fun and interesting radio to play around with. Take care, Todderbert, and have a lovely friday in Chicago.

Sounds like an old school multiband radio, which would be fun to own.

Wow, a very thorough review for sure. It's disappointing you're not getting stereo from your headphone jack, though. I have a few (as I find them fun to hack) and all the ones I've received have been stereo. I agree that the stock audio amplifier is rather noisy. Cheers!

Nice comprehensive review of Goshante's new firmware for this radio. It seems that you received a trouble-free unit. Lucky you. Mine gave me quite some headaches: - it can't be flashed through the mini-USB port (seems like a lot of ATS-20+ are affected by this), I had to buy a USBasp device to flash the Arduino board from its internal header - its encoder wheel is reversed: clockwise goes down in frequency - its battery indicator is stuck to 0% The last two problems can be solved by generating a new firmware from a slightly modified source code (two lines actually) but it requires bringing up the Arduino IDE and learn how to use it. Not a trivial task, really. And with this comes the fear of bricking your radio... I mean, I still love this little radio. It's a very decent receiver, nice to use, with pretty good sound and a lot of useful features. But I'm currently going through a lot of worries to make it work as good as yours.

I had an issue with not being able to flash mine. I did some research and found out that the Nano clone used had the new bootloader flashed to it. So when I flash mine, I have to use the new bootloader versus the old bootloader that everyone says to choose. It worked.

My mom got me a short wave radio for Christmas yesterday. And I didn’t like it. Because I couldn’t find anything on it. I only found a couple of talk stations. So I gave it back to her. And she is going to use it. And see if she can find anything. I don’t even know what kind of radio it is. But it’s ok. Because I’m loving my amazing sangean hdr 16 hd radio. I’m from Troy Michigan. And at night. I can pick up 1210 Wpht in hd. And I love how that hd sounds when it locks on. And during the day I can get Wpht in analog. It’s my favorite radio station. Can you revue that amazing hd radio again? Also I want you to try something for me. I want you to see if you can find any hd am stations at night. And see if they will lock on. And do that in the video
