I’m a first-time mom, and I really feel blessed that I have found your channel. My baby is turning 2 this May and she really loves her books because I followed your teachings about repetition. Now, I am interested in sharing how I teach my baby on recognizing things found everywhere, and how I read her stories, with the help of your channel, of course.

I put the weekly grocery store ad on my fridge with magnet 🧲 and my 2yr old gets excited to name or point at stuff that we normally eat or buy. My speech therapist gave me magnet pictures of stuff he commonly eats and now he calls these items out or gets the pictures and hands jt to me to have some...thats major improvement instead of just pulling my hand to guess what he wants.... TY for this channel i will definitely gets many of ue tips

Hey Kelly! Yes, it is so normal for kids to be busy and moving around. I recommend looking up attention spans per age and you'll see that kids attention spans are short (especially for more structured activities led by an adult). But when kids are playing with you, their attention span tends to increase :)
@kellyluis3904

@@LearnWithAdrienne Thanks for the additional info. I looked it up and at 20 months, its 3 to 6 minutes! I didnt realize how short their atention spans are. I secretly thought something was wrong! Thanks for letting me know about this. Like you said, I definitely see an increase when I'm sitting with him and engaging in an activity with him. You made this mother feel better today 😊

Awesome ideas! Thank you! I have an almost 17 month old who can understand and follow several step directions (even if objects are in the other room), when asked she can point people by name, body parts, objects in book etc but she will never repeat words. She has been pointing at things to get me to name them since about 12 months. If she is babbling along and it sound like something and you repeat it back to her or try to get her to say anything she just wont. She just grunts or says nothing. If she cant get what she wants with pointing (I've tried holding out for any attempt at the word) she just loses interest and that's it. Any tips for getting her to attempt words?

Hey Cora! So glad you are enjoying the videos! It sounds like you are doing a great job of looking for resources that will help your daughter learn to talk! You are definitely on the right track and it is wonderful that she is following directions and understanding lots of words. After reading through your specific question, yes, there are so many things that you can do to help your child talk more. My KZbin videos show lots of strategies and techniques, but my Online Class brings it to the next level by walking you step-by-step through the exact building blocks of communication that I take my speech therapy clients through to help them go from only saying a handful of words to talking in sentences. The Online Class is way more structured than my KZbin videos, including checklists and ways for you to track your child's progress. I recommend you look into my Online Video Class called "The Steps to Help Your Child Learn To Talk." The goal of the class is to give you the skills needed to plug in the speech strategies into your other daily life with your toddler and to implement the building blocks, strategies, and concepts during meal time, car riding time, play time, outdoor time, etc. You can learn more about it here and see if it would be a good fit for you and your daughter: www.learnwithadrienne.com/steps-to-help-your-child-learn-to-talk

Love your videos! So sweet and helpful! I've been watching it every night since I found it two days ago. I'm usually a quiet person, now I try to talk to my 17 months son as much as possible which made my throat sore everyday. Is it time to speak using diaphragm like a singer? Also, was wondering if you could shed a light on why my son doesn't call mama anymore. He's been calling mama for awhile before until one day his dad told him to say dada everytime he sees him. Now he just say dada all the time and no mama anymore. We try to make him say mama too, but he just don't say it. I thought he was refusing it on purpose at the beginning, but it's been two weeks he's still not saying it. What could be possibly wrong?
@LearnWithAdrienne
@LearnWithAdrienne 4 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoy the videos! I love that you are talking to your son more. It's ok to take breaks from talking to him if your throat is sore so you can recover. But, yes, using your diaphragm more may help. Also, if you raise your pitch a little bit, that may take some of the strain off. As far as not saying words that he once said, sometimes if children are learning a new physical skill, like walking or climbing, etc, their body focuses on that and speech takes a back seat for a little. About how many words is he saying out loud total?

My son was diagnosed of ASD, he only say a word "Mama" and that's it no other word. He needs a speech therapy but I can't afford it so I'm hoping that your videos will help me a lot.

Hi Joesel! So glad my videos have been helpful for you! It sounds like you are doing a great job of looking for resources that will help your son learn to talk! You are definitely on the right track. After reading through your specific comment, there are so many things that you can try to help your son talk more. Please check into free services provided through your state (depending on where you live. In the U.S. speech therapy services for 0-3 year olds are provided through the state's early intervention program and over 3 years old, services are provided through preschools). In my KZbin videos, I teach a variety of strategies to help children learn to talk, but in my online class for children, I teach much more in-depth, revealing the actual step-by-step system I use with my own speech therapy clients to get them from saying only a handful of words to communicating more intentionally and purposefully. My online class is structured with checklists and printouts where you can track your child's progress. So, my KZbin videos teach the “what” and my online class teaches the “how.” The goal of the online class is to give you the skills needed to plug in the speech strategies into your other daily life with your child and to implement the building blocks, strategies, and concepts during meal time, car riding time, play time, outdoor time, etc. Here is more info about the class so you can see if it would be a good fit for what you are looking for with your son. I have worked with many children with ASD, and these are the same research-based strategies that I use with all children to build communication skills. I am really confused as to whether my 3 yr old nephew knows how to talk or not. For example, today my food set arrived. So I was showing only a few food items, like 2 at a time to my nephew. Eventually he caught onto the fact I had many more. He walked into the hallway and said, "Where are they?" I was thinking, "Wait, you talk?". The only sentence I have heard him say besides this is "no, me no eat". Sometimes I think he talks but refuses to do so. Edit: What's your opinion?

My toddler is 2.10 year old....he doesn't let me touch his toys and wants all of them at once while practicing the video you uploaded. What to do? He only speaks mumma and baba... And few other words initials. Due to lockdown we are unable to attend his speech therapy classes
