Already bought the Delta 2 Max (QVC deal $1249 WITH 220W Bifacial panel) Also QVC had special extra Delta 2 Max battery for $800. So $2050, no interest, 5 payments, for Delta 2 Max, EXTRA Max 2 battery + 200w bifacial solar panel. Sorry the delays are over. I’m Uber happy for what i received not only at this price, but all the features. Thanks to the solar gods!

Great video! I was trying to decide if I should get the older version and save some money, or go for the latest. The update in battery technology, dual charging inputs, and longer warranty sold me on the new version. As an aside, I think the 110 outlets on the back on the unit is a feature, not a bug, as it helps reduce cable clutter.

It has been a while since I visited your channel. First and foremost, holy cow on the production value! Great job! Secondly, I just got a Delta 2 Extra Smart Battery to go with the Delta 2 I got earlier this year. Holy cow, the difference between the Goal Zero and EcoFlow products is no longer close. After 7 years of getting GZ products, I have fully bought into the EcoFlow family. As always, keep up the great work!!

I think the Delta 2 Max is the best option for most people. What is really great is that you can connect two different solar arrays to it. One could be pointed more to the morning sun and the other array could be pointed to the afternoon sun. This works great if you are unable to keep the solar panels pointed at the sun. I also like that it is portable at 51 pounds instead of the heavier Delta Pro or other large generators.

I just got the Delta Max 2000 for $1,100 on Prime day. It will be my UPS in the winter and go in my trailer in the summer. I also have a dual fuel 2,500 watt generator in my trailer. It looks like running the generator for one hour a day together with the EcoFlow, will keep me powered continuously. I pretty much always camp in the forest, so solar panels aren't really viable for me.

Recently I had the opportunity to run the Delta 2 Max and Smart Extra Battery for a prolonged nighttime power outage. Temps were in the upper 30's. I have a gas furnace, so I only need to power the blower to heat the house. The blower spikes at about 700 watts but runs at around 300 watts. It might run about 30 minutes per hour. I also run a full size refrigerator and small chest freezer which cycle on and off as needed. Most lights in the house are LED or CFL. Under these conditions the Delta 2 Max was estimating about 11 hours of capacity. 10 hours might be more accurate if we were up and using the fridge or microwave. Previously I would power everything with a 3000 watt Honda. It would burn about 3 gallons per day. Now with the Ecoflow Dual Fuel Generator only charging the batteries twice per day I would likely burn the equivalent of about 2 gallons per day, but only running for about 4 hours instead of the Honda running all day. The batteries and dual fuel generator are also much easier to set up.

Todd great review! Thanks for covering this in detail. What's the best product you'd recommend for UPS like backup for a large freezer? Ie, something that will do AC passthrough when power is available, be able to support 2k+ watt surge, and not turn AC off when the battery runs out? Is it the Delta Pro? AC500 + B300S? EP900 + B500? Something else?

Hey Todd, thanks for the review, I have been contemplating the 2k power stations for over a month now, and now Ecoflow came in like a wrecking ball. I watched your original delta max video, and this video which has helped me greatly in making up my mind. One question though, when you combined both the grid and solar, what was the highest input into the battery, that you got?
@todd.parker

I didn’t have time to test that yet but they claim “When combined AC and solar input is 2400W using 1800W AC input and a minimum of 600W solar input. In only 43 min get an 80% charge”

I understand using a PS to power a refrigerator during high cost grid time and charging with passthrough at low cost grid times. But what is the actual savings ? Assuming the equipment is amortized over 8 to 10 year, main unit, extra battery, solar panels, wiring and any other bits needed to connect and set up. I wonder if anyone has made a spreadsheet that could be used to balance the best equipment with a specific circumstance.

The workaround for the single xt60 input is simple, use a mppt and a DC-DC to charge a small 12/24 volt battery. If you buy a mppt that has a load port use that to connect your powerstation with single xt60 to. You can even programma the load port to protect the small 12/24 volt battery. As a bonus you can take your powerstation with you while still catching some solar into the 12/24 volt battery. This same idea can be used with home solar, just mppt you roof solar into the 12/24 volt battery and use that load port to, much slower transport the yield into the powerstation.

Hi Todd, very informative review. I got interested in battery backup just last month because a solar rooftop vendor stopped by and really got my attention on the tech. My neighbor behind my house uses a generator when the power goes out (unfortunately too often in our neighborhood), and it’s annoyingly loud even over here! The EcoFlow Delta 2 Max seems like the best of consumer, but still not as powerful or convenient as the roof-mounted options - but DANG are the rooftops expensive! But it seems these consumer-level solutions also can’t handle running my AC/furnace… is that the right assessment of the current state? #sorryirambled
@todd.parker
@todd.parker Жыл бұрын
If you have 240 dual phase appliances like an AC unit or well pump, most power stations can’t power those. The Delta Pro and Bluetti AC300/500 can sync a pair of units to do that but it’s large and expensive. Waiting for a one box solution…
@HippocratesGarden
@HippocratesGarden Жыл бұрын
It seems, for your pacifica, a simple double throw switch would have been a simple solution. Simple turn or throw of the switch changes from alternator to solar panel, and retain the much higher input voltage (though of course the alternator isn't going to be over 60Vdc and it's unlikely you'll hae enough panels on hand, in series in the van.
@todd.parker
@todd.parker Жыл бұрын
A switch is probably better than unplugging/re-plugging but doesn't solve the issue that you'd want to charge from both the alternator and solar at the same time so the D2MAX is a nice upgrade there.

Great video! Would it be fine if I always left the Delta 2 plugged in to use the EPS feature for my PC or would this degrade the internals much faster than only turning it on when needed?
@todd.parker
@todd.parker Жыл бұрын
That's no problem. When you have this plugged into the wall and plug in a PC, it actually just bypasses the inverter and feeds the power directly from the grid to your computer. When the grid power goes it, it flips a switch inside to turn on the inverter and start using the battery within 30ms so the power station isn't really getting any wear and tear in this setup.

I wonder if the xt connection is better. I purchased a Delta Pro for some friends (along with a pallet of solar panels and large spool of direct bury wire), and they have plugged in the solar, unplugged it once, and when they went to plug it in again.. the xt connector fell inside. It has been sent back and is to be replaced with new under warranty, but I've found other instances of this. One would think, for something designed to be "portable" and have solar plugged in and unplugged many times.. it would last more than a couple of connections.

I would argue that the dual solar input is an feature, if you put all of your panels in series, a partial shade on one of the panels will draw down the whole array, if you have 2 separate panel arrays one will still deliver. Also, on a camper, you could have the roof mounted array on one plug and a portable array on the other plug and use both, with different orientation you get more hours of sun Sadly there are no youtube giveaways for me living in Sweden, and it is quite expensive here.

You can definitely use this instead of typical 12v lithium batteries + solar charger controller + inverter + etc. - the only thing is this doesn't offer high power DC outputs so if you have a fuse block that runs lots of DC appliances, it might not work for your needs. Otherwise, it's a much simpler solution.

further study of highly desirable Anker Powerhouse// they have a great sale on now. Apparently the unit does not come with any solar panel imput cable. Apparently if one goes over 25', should use 10 gauge wire. What is not clear or explained it the solar imput port on the generator. I would like to see a pic of it. Do not believe its an xt60 type imput and cannot see if its a mc4 nor does the company have this info on their site. So far no call back from TEch support... Could easily make cable in 10 gauge if the generator imputs are mc4 type. Any help?

If your solar panels have MC4 connectors, it's best to get long MC4 cables that are 10ga then adapt to XT60 with Ecoflow's adapter or one you buy on Amazon

@@Mau105 Just my 2 cents here..I get your frustration. It took me a few days to figure out whose XT-60 cable to buy to use with my Anker unit (they do not sell one, and the one they supply is not optimal for me because I do not use their panels) because I could not get an answer from anyone regarding the polarity of the connector and I did not want to destroy my inverter! Anker told me which side is positive and which is negative. I really like what they have done with this Ecoflow unit. I still prefer my Anker 767 which was initially replaced because the wiring was reversed on the AC inputs; all is well now. Their CS was great but delayed by a day each time I emailed them. An engineer replied to my questions and most of what I got from them was over my head (I am NOT an electrician) but I understand why Anker uses the technology they do. I am not pushing either brand because I think they are BOTH great products. Todd does a great job reviewing these things.

If one also owned the Ecoflow fossil fuel generator, is there a way via the app to time that to only come on during certain hours of the day? For example, if one were dry camping around other campers, I would not want the generator to be firing up in the middle of the night. Instead, maybe I should come on after 9 AM.

On a SUPER Bright Full Sun day my 3 x 220w array can output 560w. D2M will input 500w. Because of the cutoff. However when day more cloudy, or Early morning or Late afternoon my 3x220w array produces more watts via OVER-Paneling.

@todd.parker
@todd.parker Жыл бұрын
I thought about that but since there's only one charge controller, a Y connector connects both the solar array and car charger in parallel and in that setup, the source with the lowest rated voltage determines the voltage output of the whole array. That means if I connect a car charger (12v, 8a = 92w) and a solar array (say 40v 6a = 240w), you'd end up with 12v at 14a when connected in parallel = 168w so you're better off just connecting the solar array. Two inputs are an awesome feature. www.alternative-energy-tutorials.com/solar-power/connecting-solar-panels-together.html#
