Sysex Midi Dump,PC to Synthesizers

I started releasing my 100% free sound bank "Best Microkorg Sounds" and many people asked how to dump sysex from PC to hardware synthesizers. In this video I wanted to take the time and share the steps needed to dump sysex files and new sounds from PC to your hardware synthesizers.
I made this video to help out the people wanting to use my free sound bank but this process should help anyone with any hardware synthesizer who wants to dump sysex files from a computer.

I have found conflicting information about Scarlett's supporting SysEx messages. My Beatstep Pro and Midi Solutions Quadra Thru both seem to filter out SysEx messages so I've been unable to reset the firmware on my Retrokits RK-002 cable.

I also got that one last month. I found a helpful website with patches and a detailed instruction for the transfer of the files to the SY77. Search for Bobby Blues.

@@wolfgange.9465 Me too. That's why I got SY Manager. It lets you see all your current patches, Let's you make changes to settings, down load new ones, even asks you if you want yo convert dx7 patches to SY format and does it for you if you want. Free 30 day trial, and one time $25 to buy.

Hi Todd, how to send single voice/patch from midiox to synth? Is there a program which can send separate voices to specific places in synth? Basically i dont want to overwrite saved patches in synth by bulk upload. Thx!!

I used the soundeditor software for microkorg it still works and you can replace also just one patch

I have a question what if you want to keep some custom presets you already have on your microkorg and want to choose in what bank exactly you want to overwrite some of the presets you don't want anymore with your custom sounds?

I'd like to know this also. I've got patches I've written that I 'd like to keep but would like to be able to select which presets to overwrite.

@@gennafoden1 Me too. I've seen a vid of dumping sysex to an efx unit, where you choose the preset, where the dump is saved. I your case, i think you just choose all other presets than the ones you wanna keep. It's one preset at the time - not a complete sound bank, as I understand it. Maybe Todd will chime in and spill some beans on us! :-)

I have never heard of or don't know of a way to interface midi with an audio interface. Did you mean to say midi interface or is there a way to convert audio to midi?

They create many audio interfaces with midi and audio combinations

Despite having used MIDI-OX with other synths since the late 90s I can not get my Korg microKorg to accept SysEx files. I have read the manual; checked the midi connections; and tried using the microKorg editor and my Daw to send the files as MIDI, but nothing works. I can send the files from the microKorg to the editor and view them, but not the other way around. Also, I followed your links in order to try your 'free' SysEx files to try to get them to work, but all I can see is stuff for sale. So, can you provide a direct link to the free SysEx files and maybe do another video on setting the microKorg up to send and receive SysEx files from MIDI-OX?

did you tried SysEx transmission: SHIFT 4 KNOB 4 E-E as in manual? I suppose write protection also should be off.
