Hi Todd, I really appreciate the information you share and the way you present it. I would like to know if Softube have plans to make a video about the integration of Softube Console 1 Channel and Fader with Pro Tools, as they’ve done with you for other DAWs. Although Channel MK3 is my main tool , it doesn’t integrate well with Pro Tools. It would be helpful to have videos that address the lack of integration with certain DAWs and show alternative ways of working and give solutions to those issues. When I saw the integration chart comparing Pro Tools with LUNA, Ableton, Logic, etc., it made me hesitate about purchasing it. I’m happy with my decision, but I believe a video like this would provide more clarity and encourage potential users who might have similar doubts. I’ve noticed that the Fader has four operating modes, one specifically for Pro Tools. Will this mode allow us to take full advantage of the Softube ecosystem, such as color assignment per channel and proper use of mute, solo, and sends, in Console 1 Channel as well? Or will be available only in Fader? Thanks

Yes. Actually, I made the video for them. 😉 It should be going live very soon. Short answer, Pro Tools works amazingly with the Mk III units. But it is a little different than the other DAWs since it is PT. This means there are 2 modes. One is a PT HUI mode for when you move faders, pan, and control 6 sends. Then at the press of a button, you can flip back to C1 mode where the faders control plugin output gain and basically become an extension of Console 1 Channel. It’s the best of both worlds and has worked flawlessly for me as I’ve been testing it. Only downside is that you can use only 8 of the 10 faders when in HUI mode, but that’s a limitation of PT. When in C1 mode, all 10 faders are in use.

I actually had someone make these for me. But Softube has a branded stand on its way that is super slick looking with nice wood sides. I don't know if it will be out on day 1, but keep your eyes open for it.

Lack of transport and automation controls is a little disappointing. But at least this one has scribble strips! Tossing up whether to upgrade my UF8/UF1 with an extra UF8 or go for 2x C1F… 20 faders would be nice!

Understood. However, realize that the purpose of the product is to complete the full console style workflow, rather than being a DAW controller. For me, having that done properly is more important than squeezing in features that other companies have done, but with limited success. I could see the benefit of an add on piece at some point that added automation, transport, and maybe some other features. In the meantime, products such as the single Behringer or Presonus can fill those roles. I have the transport on my 5060 😉

I have Logic Pro for iPad as well as on my Mac Studio. Do you know if the Console 1 MK3 system supports iPad use?

I haven’t used it, but Softube worked directly with Apple on the Logic control, so I would assume everything works perfectly together.

Great again, but assuming you have both consoles, why do they have some knobs and dials in common? For instance: the send knobs are the same on both, same for pan. Can those knobs be programmed, so that every button has a separete function AND you don't need to press shift all the time (for instance: send 1/2/3 on the Fader; send 4/5/6 on the Channel, etc)?

Well, some people will have only one or the other, so due to that, the redundancy makes sense. But yes, you can set Channel to control something like send 1 and Fader to control send 2, which is nice if you want to automate 2 different sends at the same time.

@@ToddUrban Thanks! Although I think there will be not much people buying a Fader without having a Channel... But probably Softube did good market research on this one. For my personally, a fast workflow is without to much 'shift'-pressing and double functions (and I'm a big Softube fan; I own 80% of their plugins, a Channel MK3 and Fader MK1).

@@gertkeunen2720 I agree. The real benefit of the system is to use both products. But there are some people who use only Faders on stage or to control their DAW. I do think you will see more development coming in the months that follow. Look at how much has already been added with Channel. ;) But feel free to keep suggesting any updates or workflow ideas here. I'm happy to read through them and share them with the development team for consideration.

That is cool, but still do not see why for example if I have a avid control fader why Softube Console 1 Faders would be a way better addition to my console 1 MKIII..... I want to know if Softube Faders enhance greatly the workflow of my console 1 MKIII experience

Well, in my opinion the Fader unit does enhance it since you have both a HUI control but also Console 1 Channel mapping and workflows such as favorites at your fingertips. It goes beyond traditional HUI and approaches things differently than EUCON. I guess it is a personal choice which you like, but I prefer having one fully integrated system, rather than something such as an S1 paired with Channel

I was a console 1 mk2 system user and I’m definitely considering the mk3 system but I have noticed in the newer promo videos including the new fader 1 and stand it seems to have the fader 1 a bit flat which would mean that you’d have to lean over to read the LED screens…. Is this a fair assessment?

Actually, I think you will be surprised at how you can see the screens from any angle. The are super high resolution, and even look great under bright studio lights. I’d say give it a try and see if it works for you.

I notice when you are collapsing folders that the last two faders don’t seem to be used. Does this mean it can only be done in HUI/MCU mode?

So in Pro Tools, there are 2 modes you will use. I did a separate video on this for Softube so make sure to look that up. But in HUI, you have 8 faders to control. In Console 1 mode, you’ll have 10 since it becomes an extension of Channel. When collapsing folders, that will work in HUI mode. But Console 1 mode will still let you see all the tracks. It is a best of both worlds.

Actually, yes. It will control faders, pan, track select, sends, solo/mute, etc. Regarding the old unit, you need to have at least one Mk III unit to be able to access this control. You can use your old Fader unit as a 2nd unit once the other one communicates the certain DAWs. In regards to Pro Tools, you will need the Mk III to access the HUI support. (EDITED FOR CLARITY AFTER THE INITIAL POST)

@@alvaroartimejimenez8461 Hi! So, when it comes to Pro Tools, you will need the Mk III Fader unit. I checked with the developers, and there are 2 main reasons for this. The first is that the screens and the modes are only available on the new hardware. (the old one obviously doesn't have screens) But the 2nd reason is that the new hardware is built with functionality that allows the hardware to access the control surface support that Avid made available to obtain the HUI control. Due to this workflow, it is a little different than other DAWs. But I've been using it with Pro Tools and am super happy. I would actually say it is my favorite 3rd party controller for Pro Tools, as it has a more fluid feel than others, and obviously allows you to tie into mixing with Console 1 Channel to make it feel like a full mixing system.

Is that possible fader works in single track mode? Like all the fader sent to track 1's all sends, like fader 1 for send 1, fader 2 for send 2...So all 10 faders just work for a single track. And even more, I can assign multiple parameters to different fader(still in single track mode).

That could be a cool update to have parameters “spill out across the faders for a single track”. But as of now, each fader is dedicated to the track you are on. So you would just hit send 1 when you want to control that, and then hit volume to go back to volume. It is super fast, but I also see the idea you are suggesting and that it could offer some unique ways of mixing.
