Once you start to do it, you’ll realize just how helpful this actually is. One tip, Carl, is instead of removing the time, just drag it to the very top of the today view where the “all day” section is, and it’ll automatically remove that time for you.

Great video Carl as always, thanks. I have been trying this out recently too, and a great thing I found is that you can expand a task once you add it into the calendar for as long as you estimate that task to take (if you are so inclined) by hovering over it and then dragging with your cursor. Very handy for a visual person like myself, because I can better tell if the time block I'm allocating the tasks too is long enough to complete then all. Having said that it would be great if the we could have "Tomorrow" view in the same way, so if you plan for the next day at the end of the day (and rightly so) you can easily drag everything into place - now that is something that will make this view/function even better! Hopefully that is on Todoist's radar. Thanks again.

I've always struggled with "estimating" how. long a task will take. Even after ten years of writing weekly blog posts, the first draft can take anywhere from forty-five minutes to two-hours depending on how tired I am or how many interruptions I get. Now, I no longer bother trying to estimate.
@garywilson45794 ай бұрын
@@Carl_Pullein Yep great point Carl, I must admit, some (ok maybe more than some :) ) of my tasks run over my estimates but there are others that 95% of the time I can nail down. Some interesting things happening with Evernote calendar now too I see.

Does anyone know if this is two way sync between Google Calendar and Todoist? The old integration allow the Todoist tasks to be seen on te Google Calendar platform. By removing the old integration, the project calendars disappear on Google Calendar itself.

I don't see the value in this step. You have them already grouped and labeled in your today view and you have your certain time slot set on your calendar? If 09:00-11:00 is admin time, you just focus on the admin tasks in ToDoist? I think it just adds another unnecessary step that doesn't add value but its falling into planning fallacy rather than action. It's great that ToDoist have added a calendar and all but your system is already simple enough and works, just stick to it.
@Carl_Pullein4 ай бұрын
I agree, which is why I said I do not do this myself.

I think this new feature is more for use of people who like to plan their task inside calendar, which involves estimating and sizing the duration of their tasks which Carl doesn’t do / show it in the video.
@modestbukowski4 ай бұрын
@@JeromeFe I know. Bur Carl has already time blocked in his calendar based on labels. Just dragging the tasks to the time slot when it already says what label it is in ToDoist doesn't add anything.

I'm gradually moving my calendar from Google (trying to escape them as much as possible) to Todoist, especially as I consider events to be tasks. My calendar needs are pretty simple, at the moment. The only issue I have at the moment is recurring events/tasks, as you can't seem to adjust any that overlap... until the day of said event!

Can you make video on how to schedule time during the day for area of focus tasks

Hmm, these should be predefined and already in your system. Your area of focus tasks are your most important tasks, you do not want to be "hoping" you will find time for them.

What happens tomorrow? so the task that you’ve dragged in to complete today, if they don’t get completed do they stay on the calendar on the day that you dragged them in or do they go back into your to-do list because they were not marked as completed so you can time block them again?

It's not the best place to do that. You would be better using iCloud, Google Drive or OneDrive. All of which are searchable. If you need to access them on a specific day, you cna get the link to the document and paste that into the task.

It's a very poorly implemented calendar treatment. First, only one calendar. The idea you can't drag a task on and off is nuts. I'm really surprised at how poorly they did this. I depend on todoist all day long but it is really getting well behind the market. Clickup for instance is just getting better and better. Todoist isn't doing anything to really break away from the pack.

@@Carl_Pullein ... once you have added the task into a category (label/tag), it should end, if there is a deadline, include that field as sort criteria... then it just an allocation to 'share' them over the week during the weekly planning session, no? The problem is you say it only works via the "TODAY" view, perhaps too late for larger tasks?

@@timbushell8640 For me, a large task is broken down. I have for example, a task to record the audiobook for Your Time Your Way. That's not something I can do in a day. I have a recurring task that repeats five days a week and I will do as much time as I can spare. The recurrence runs until one week before the deadline.
