What a great finish to your "Provence Top"! It suits you so well. So happy to hear about your toe up socks. I never wear my socks two days in a row. They need a rest so they don't wear out so fast. Apparently the same holds true for shoes. Because wool is naturally antibacterial I only wash them every couple of weeks. Certain wools will get fuzzy faster especially if they are knit at a looser gauge. I like to knit my socks with a 2.00 mm or 2,25 mm needle. Thank you Athena for another informative podcast. With appreciation, Sarah

I love that you incorporate the Golden Ratio in your knitting, Athena. The Golden Ratio has been shown to be pleasing to our eyes so it makes a lot of sense to use it in your stripe patterning. I guess I am a nerd too! :-) I also want to say that you must be a great knitting teacher. Your explanations are so thorough.

Thank you, Sandy! Hopefully I can show more golden ratio stripes next time, then we’ll have some proof!

For knitting two socks at a time, you can find the inner end of the skein and use that for one sock while knitting the other sock with the outer end. The inner end is usually a little bit bunched up and you will need to unravel that a bit, but you won't need to wind the skein into 2 separate balls. On washing: air out your garment between uses instead of washing. Wool freshens up well. Brushing and hand washing are generally recommended for wool garments, although I machine wash mine to save time and dry them flat. Laundry bags can apparently cause felting because of the friction. I haven't had that happen, but it's something to keep in mind. I don't know how frequently I wash my wool socks, but I mostly wear thick ones (Aran weight) and they don't smell even when they look grimy from all the dog hair in my home. (Sorry if this is old information to you by now! I just didn't see anyone commenting on those topics here yet)

That sounds great, Helen! Thank you! And you know what? I’m learning to crochet! I bought a book and hooks and learned to do the basic single and double crochet, but I’m having a hard time finding time to practice with so many knitting projects at hand. 😅

Thanks for the sock anatomy lesson! I like the looks of the short row heel, but the heel flap and gusset fits my high arch better. I knit my socks on 2mm (US 0) because my feet are narrow and I like a snug fit. I’ll give your toe-up construction a try! We lived in China for 2 years, and I enjoyed trying Chinese yarns!

Thank you! Hope my sock pattern can give you a good fit! You may choose the larger stitch counts if using 2mm needles. I graded it up to 72 sts around foot and cuff. Chinese yarns (and other products) refresh quite rapidly and there is always new yarn coming out. I'll share more in this channel! :)

Thank you for your interesting videos, I am glad I have found you. Where can I order the Chinese yarn you were knitting with?
@SeedlingStitch
@SeedlingStitch 2 жыл бұрын
Welcome!:) I ordered the yarn from their Chinese Webstore on Taobao, and then used a separate shipping service to ship it from China to Canada. It would be quite hard to order it with English website only. I hope they would do business overseas someday!
