There's no excuse for not going to a nail salon to get his nails trimmed....
@chrisfry4367 жыл бұрын
trust me older guys like that wont go to a salon, the little town where I live has a couple of retired nurses who go every couple weeks to the community center and have folding chairs set up and pans for seniors to soak their feet in while waiting their turn to get their nails trimmed and feet checked and it is free, this is a completely forgotten service and is so necessary for many seniors who cant physically do it and wont go to a salon/spa place, or have anyone to help them, and I believe they did it for free!

You are a good man, and you know the way to get patients to come to you for regular care. You don’t act scornful, or disgusted and you don’t make fun of them. I think bad treatment from the doctor causes more dread than worrying about pain for a lot of people. The pain of an injection in the toe goes away fast; the pain of being bullied and scorned lasts a lifetime. Keep it up, Mr. Toe Bro! I love your style.

My experience with convalescent homes is that it takes forever for the staff to get to cutting nails. It’s not seen as a priority and most places are so short staffed and overburdened with everything else. I remember my grandma’s roommate constantly asking to have her nails cut only for a doctor to come in and tell her that due to her diabetes it’s too risky and since she’s in a wheelchair, that it’s not really worth it.

And that's why I am doing it differently. My mom has dementia and is disabled (with disability Level 5....out of 5) and needs care for EVERYTHING. Changing clothes, washing, brushing teeth, drinking, eating etc. And I'll do it as long as it's necessary. Yes it means I can't really do anything. Relationships aren't really possible or going out for a party isn't possible. But I'm fine with that. If I "have" to do it until I am 30 (I am 22 rn) so be it. I have done since I was 17 now. I won't put the woman that gave birth to me and who raised me in some nursing home. Many people - especially relatives - have said that they do admire it but they also say that they feel like it's too much. They say that I have to live "my own life" and that "this can't be it". Personally I have to say that no, I don't feel like it should be different. "Living your life" doesn't work in just one way. For me "living my life" is not about partying. It's about living your life in a way so that you can later look back and say "Yes! I've done the right thing!". And to me that's the case with the stuff I am doing right now. If I were to put her away so I can party I would not be able to say "Yes. That was the right thing to do" once she's gone.

My sweet grandmother likes to pretend she is at the spa when her podiatrist cuts her toenails. The way she talks you would think she was being pampered.

I see people like this who have NHS home podiatry! Unfortunately it can often be a year between visits for low risk patients because the demand on the service is too high.

@debrataylor76546 жыл бұрын
Lady Gundiva I had the same thing happen to me. I was so embarrassed because it was a fake nail so I told the Dr it was a rock the flew at me because I had a convertible and it hit me while driving. Imagine my horror when he found the red nail still in my eye.
