They're really sponsoring with Meet Receives a Dating Sim System as their flagship? That's just sad. They'd be way better off sponsoring other works like "Lord of the Mysteries, Legendary Mechanic, Cultivation Chat Group or Release That Witch!", they're the classics that carried the site since years ago.

Sorry for the long winded response in advance. His Wife definitely draw it cuz damn sailor moon is beautiful. But I understand why he doesn’t trust other ppl draw for him. Togashi has a unique style and the fights from yuyu he mentioned definitely have the issues he mentioned imo so there’s probably some trauma-esque things around it for him. That being said Naoko is fucking amazing so I do agree with her drawing it would work but there’s probably a certain amount of “artistic integrity” to togoshi at this point that doesn’t let him or blah talk she don’t want to/he doesn’t want to put that pressure on her. Especially with bad experiences (yuyu) in the past with him being clearly a perfectionist or even him just not wanting it he wright of HXH on his wife’s hands (sounds like a shit deal and lots of stress to me). A perfectionist to the point that I think he wants the art to be his and no one else’s in his mind. He has assistants now but like imo he probably (not any shade cuz I think even art wise he is my favorite even though it’s not the best) draws everything, assistants give their edits, and he edits it how he likes. Which for truly an artist (on multiple levels for western art especially) makes sense. Sorry for the long winded response.

Honestly I’ve been saying this for years. He’s great but he’s not Picasso. In my opinion he should pass the series onto another company who can do it justice. The amount of support togashi has got from hxh fan base for years is incredible… it’s super lame to keep these life long fans on the back burner that have been there since day one. He’s done great…pass it to the next team so this loyal fan base can continue to thrive and grow. My grandfather wanted to see the red Sox win a World Series before he died…in 2004 it came true. @@Shorts11327 You're implying that these life-long fans live for the series. In the end, we are all just consumers of entertainment whether that's through multiple manga or professional sports. We don't live for what we're entertained by. We still have a life, a job, habits, and passions of our own. Compare that to togashi, where this series is his life, his job, and habit, This is what he thinks about, stresses about to the point his health is on the decline. I think the focus on "side characters" and the deconstruction of characters is a big part of why we all love this story. Everyone in the story is "important" and full of nuance. I think that is really neat
@azraeldusk2154
@azraeldusk2154 9 ай бұрын
Yeah, this is something that captivates a more mature audience. The problem is that the "anti-character deconstruction" opinion came form 90s jump editorial stuff. Back then, the idea of a shonen manga appealing to a more mature target audience was like someone today saying to a boomer that having piercings or tattoos won't destroy your career. Edit: of course, editorial stuff will not always actually know what an audience wants, they look at sale amounts, not what people actually like and these 2 numbers can be way different. Editors will always look in to cash at a shallow show that can appeal to a wider range of consumers, especially if merch can be marketed as well. But a deep story that takes a risk? They will think twice about it. Of course, nowadays with the success of past such series, editors are more open to these ideas. But back in the 90s? oof.

Yeah I wouldn't mind giving authors a break from their series because I can't imagine how hard it is to create likeable characters, creating a entire world based on their imagination, making a story arc that has the right amount of action and dialogue to keep the readers interested, drawing the world in their manga as they envision in their mind is just amazing. It must be stressful managing this incredibly long story while keeping it consistently good for so long, I can't imagine how much of a burden it is watching your fans praise you for your work despite the author knowing that at some point in their career they will encounter a point where they will eventually run out of ideas for their story.

I encourage everyone to think about their own Nen-Ability: ITS FUN, to say the least. But the question is if you can cheat the System (to a reasonable extend) so i ask your thoughts on this: What about a catalyst-ability whose sole purpose it to be Useless and even HIGHLY Restrictive and then multiple more Abilities that all have the teeny tiny Restriction 'Can only be used while the useless Ability is active'. I can think of countles ways how this will not work but a few where it would actually work: You just gotta have 3+ Ability-Slots and the Useles Ability should be Mono-Type but more importantly have Restricttons that 'act on you' as long as its activated or even outright all-the-time. Kurapika, i think, gave me the idea cause i wondered if Emperors Time extreme Cost only helps Emperor Time or them all - and f this is exploitabe! Heres the kicker: Dowsing-Chain is pure Conjuration but its direclty stated to get a (Slight) Boost when Kurapika is in Emperor Time, so all you gotta ask is where this comes from. Cause its a slight improvement, it cant be all of Emperor Time's Life-Burning, so the only logical conclusion is some 'left-over' gets to Kurapikas other Hatsu. Guy's, its not rocket-science, all you gotta remember is he decreased his Efficiency to 80% and then up to 100% and all that's on you is remember ""Hey, wait, isnt that how he started as?" So what i say is throwing Money into a Cmapfire can be of Benefit for moe Abilities than actually have the Activation-Requirement 'Burn Money'' IF you pul it off

I'm glad to hear that HxH is Togashi's passion project that he's making just for himself at this point which is why despite his health issues he's still the one drawing it. I find that inspiring actually. Will the story ever end to a satisfying conclusion? No. But does it have to? No, I don't think so. We got a ton of great arcs from HxH already. Personally I think the way the Ants arc ended is a great way to "end" the professional run of HxH. Gon falls, Killua takes his place and his dad comes back, and the adventure continues in the background. The end. So go on with your bad self, Togashi. You do HxH as a way to de-stress, and if you still get paid to do so that's just a bonus. Like I said: inspiring.

title misleading, made it seem as togashi is apologizing in the PRESENT for HxH or something is about to happen, but no its just an old apology about yyh no one cares about, and this whole monolog didnt explain anything new, that apology didnt explain why there are a lot of bodyguards for example, if that intro is sarcastic, and we dont care why there is a hiatus we just want HxH to be back, the author can take time to rest or not its up to him, no need to milk HxH, only if you want to make a theory series , we're not here to delve into the writers mind, review other mangas and leave HxH if you got nothing new to say about it and milk something else, when there are new news then come back to HxH, otherwise a critic is this is a pointless 14 min wasted and title is misleading, add " togashi apology for yyh " very much clickbait, bad move.

THIS! Writers and illustrators (of any story medium) are under zero moral obligation to cave in to our wants and whims. Yes, a lot of them - especially mangaka - do, because that's how they keep getting profits and even get the chance to do the work they want to. Great examples of this are: Toriayama, Kishimoto and Kubo (the latter only initially). But they SHOULD NOT have to succumb to this pressure. Even if things seem not ideal sales-wise for a period of time, we know for a fact that skilled, accomplished storytellers will always perform better when allowed to bring their own vision into life, under their own terms. A proof of that is Kubo. Other, non-mangaka, examples of this are GRR Martin, Edgar Allan Poe and Lovecraft. Of course, doing what you want always carries a risk of it just not being successful. This will still garner a dedicated fan base, but will close off the broader spectrum of audience. This is why editors will often put more pressure to go with the flow and stay on the beaten path. Examples here include: Reki Kawahara. Then, there is always the category of "did whatever I wanted, made it, but later ruined my own image and people saw how shitty the actual series is in quality" aka the JKR category.

Togashi doesn't face any of the challenges of a modern mangaka at this point in his career tbh. yeah, he has many health issues and he has earned the right to rest and even stop drawing if he wants to by now but he did say that he does want to continue HxH. the thing that's holding him back from actually finishing it is just his pride and stubbornness. if he truly wanted to get the ending and story out there for the fans, he would have gotten a team to do the drawing for him while he became the creative director or writer or he would have made it into a light novel type of thing or literally anything else, there's many options. but he said that he wants to draw the manga himself and given the way he is, that means it will take a very, very long time. there is no stress of meeting deadlines which leads to burnout and breakdowns, nothing like what the actual mangakas are going through right now. it's all him who sets the pace of updates and tbh I can see why so many fans get angry or irritated at him

I respect togashi for not wanting to hire a team and wanting to create the series on his own terms. In his own artistic vision. It’s tragic because he’s sabotaging his own works and it doesn’t really make sense. I understand where he’s coming from but like Liam said, the manga industry is brutal. Togashi should realize that there’s no shame in having others help you in your work. Yu yu hakusho is one of my all-time favorite series and I wish so much that he had someone finish him for him. The fact he also created Hunter x hunter is incredible to me. He’s already made a glorious impact on the manga industry. I also like that he’s called out the industry for the stress he’s had as a result, it’s really brave of him. He will always be top 5 mangaka of all time for me. The great Kentaro miura for instance, died without completing his series and now somebody is completing it for him and I’m so grateful for that. I really don’t want that same fate for togashi. I believe he’s owed a great respect as an artist for how personally he takes his own series, to the point of putting his health on the line but we need to be supportive and non critical. That way he may accept some help and spare him such a harsh impact on his health. Hiatus x hiatus jokes are funny but it’s disrespectful to this great man and what he has provided us. He just needs to know how much these series mean to us and how great he is. The fact that he even utters the words, yu yu hakusho and the word “failure” in the same sentence is heartbreaking to me. That series is incredible just the way it is. With the amount of lazy and uninspired manga endings out there, yu yu hakusho’s ending is far from being at all bad. I also love that he had the integrity to admit he couldn’t end it the way he wanted to. Again, there’s no shame in him getting help. Especially in this incredibly oppressive and cynical manga industry.

A lot of people in this comment section are ignoring that togashi himself said he wanted to write more HxH stories, and he wants to draw them himself. Taking this away from him or saying he should make a light novel is so disrespectful to togashi, and it makes me wonder if they actually cared about his work in the first place. I dont want him to finish the story out of necessity for others in a half finished state like a light novel. Togashi likes to draw he wants to draw, and he wants HxH to be his work alone. To say he needs to hire an artists or switch to a new format is so disrespectful to his art. A lot of you do not care about the artists actual wishes. You hide behind his health to state your points while ignoring how the man actually feels about his own work. NO, no one else should draw HxH unless that's what he wants end of discussion. If HxH never gets finished because of that, it's fine because Togashi was doing what he wanted to do. I was 15 when i first saw HxH im 25 now, and im willing to wait as long as it takes for the series to be complete. If togashi never completes it, that's fine by me because he'll have decided that on his own terms, togashi is his own man and its time people respected that instead of putting there selfish desires to see the series completed on to him.

Of course they care about the work in the first. How does he expect to be able to write and draw more stories if he can’t even finish his current. He’s had to release his ending ideas its gotten that bad. That’s an admition that he can’t and won’t ginish his story. And now that he’s done that everyone is just rightfully pointing out that he should stop. There’s no point killing yourself over something that you will never finish. Especially when you are already noticing dips in your own work. He’ll end up regretting that he did not finish on a better note. Which he could of done after Gon met his dad honestly

I think you have misinterpreted what write more hxh stories means. He wants to keep reusing the world and power system he built. It is 100% a tacit admission that the main story, which he never finished, has been abandoned. He wants to tell other stories, not the actual story people got invested in.

@Luminousreign that's fine, but that doesn't change anything I said, lol. He wants to draw, period. Also, where are you people getting that he abandoned the story nonsense from because that's not what he meant at all? He quite literally stated he had a couple more ideas or stories to tell in HxH in a 2016 interview before the 4 year hiatus. It was 100% implying he has more arcs he wants to write. Sure, maybe he did abandon his plans for Gon and Gyro i can see that, but he never abandoned the story. We can confirm this as in his most recent author comment, His assistant revealed that these 10 chapters were written and rough drafted 4 years ago along with 30 other chapters. Togashi didn't release any because he wanted to draw them. He'd rather no HxH come out than to release stuff he's not directly drawing.

I fully agree, Gon's story has been told and e already had so many other great setups. I have zero problems with a mid series protagonist change. And let's be real it was foreshadowed from the beginning that Kurapika is not likely going to get an happy ending. But even then there are still so many things we could follow from there on.

Personally, I don't think that Togashi should have to apologize for anything. Let's just let him do his thing and allow him to continue to create amazing stories in the HxH world. We saw somewhat the ideas he has had for an ending, but honestly, he might never reach that point, and I would be more than okay with that, as long as what he did was because he loved to do it.

"Personally, I don't think that Togashi should have to apologize for anything." Then you must be a little kid that doesn't understand the reality of adult responsibilities and contractual obligations. I don't know if anyone has revealed this to you but adults don't work because it's an artistic outlet. Adults work because no one gives food and houses away for free. Adults work whether they want to work or not, whether they love their job or hate it. to be unable to work because work isn't "fulfilling" means you are a weak little child that's unfit for this world.

The problem to me is Togashi is stubborn. He is a god tier writer, I would love YuYuHakusho to have more like 100 episodes in the final ark, but he didn’t. I would like HxH to have and End I’m not kidding I’m over 15 years waiting for this MF to finish this manga. HxH have a dept in the characters like no other and I love it. It’s not for everyone a history this deep and this strong, Togashi is a Genius and a Monroe somehow

It’s a shame togashi doesn’t think he is a great artist. I think he possesses a trait most manga writers don’t. Simplicity. Think about how iconic hiei, kurama, kuwabara, yusuke, keiko, etc all look. Their designs stand out yet aren’t overly designed. Togashi is able to make iconic characters without having to be flashy. That is genius.

Call me entitled but at this point I’m upset Togashi won’t do what has to be done to finish his life’s work. If he already knows how he wants the story to go, it is as simple as writing it down (or dictating it if he is too weak to do even that) and then directing panel layout as his assistants do the rest. Damn him if he croaks without writing the rest of the story down. It’s like he learned nothing from Miura-sensei’s death.

The series has been over forever, Western Audiences dont know the full Togashi story. I think people saw him apologizing for getting bored and abandoning his old work at the start of HXH volume 1 and just went ' huh, weird' without realizing this is the standard for him. The series ended when he got bored around the end of Chimera ant.

Off topic, But I hate how most fans blame Netero for insisting on fighting Meruem, forgetting, that he still is an evil entity that wants to enslave humanity. No one can talk with that. And Togashi is just lazy. All he has is excuses. I'm aware he may not be able to withstand the exhausting workload, but he could just literally make it a monthly manga.
