The succession wars are real events that took place during the Ottoman Empire. Just as the rank system of the queens is from many Chinese dynasties (except they wouldn’t all be queens, some would be consorts and concubines). He is weaving history in with the fantasy and it’s pretty interesting. I just hope we get back to Gon!!

Just like the Chimera Ant arc, I feel like it gets better after the first viewing. The first time you're confused, sick of everyone new and ready for it to start getting to the end. Watching, or reading it a second time through, the pacing feels a lot better and you can appreciate all of the individual characters.

Not going to lie, I love this entire series so much, but this arc feels flawed on a fundamental level. 8 queen political ranking on top of 14 birth order ranking princes on top of bodyguard assignments decided by rankings on top of 14 nen beasts assigned to each prince with complex abilities on top of nen abilities used by a gaggle of characters on top of a meta-succession war plot on top of a Phantom Troupe and Hisoka secondary plotline on top of a Ging and Pariston plotline on top of an overarching plotline to get to the DC; it's just not good writing to have these many plotlines and characters introduced all in one go. This needed to be a whole, Song of Ice and Fire level anime/book series, not an arc. That way there's opportunity to introduce characters and layer the plotlines in smoothly. Idk, I think Togashi dropped the ball here

@@Paradox484 that’s more so your personal preference and opinion. Togashi knew what he was doing and made that decision to introduce all the things he did. He hasn’t finished the arc so it’s premature to say it’s bad writing. For all we know, when he finishes you could end up calling this the best arc ever because of he played it off. Also the ging and pariston stuff likely won’t be relevant until after the expedition because they’re not on the ship but trailing it on a smaller one. He hasn’t even shown them atp, it’s just been mafia, troupe/hisoka, and princes stuff. He may bring in the zodiacs but he’s even slow with doing that. He’s taking his time bringing it all together to make sure the payoff is well done. Just got to be patient

Correct me if I'm wrong, @NewWorldReview but in Chapter 360, it's stated that it's the QUEEN who gets to pick the spies, not the princes (from the video at 11:00). So, Oito, the 8th Queen, does not get to spy on anyone else, and all 7 of the Royal household guards for Woble came from the previous 7 queens. However, Maryam and Momoze, being the children of the seventh Queen, get 7 guards, one of which is their own because their mother Sevanti selects them, and the other 6 being from the higher queens. Kacho and Fugetsu, being daughters of the sixth Queen Seiko get 2 of their seven guards picked by their mother, the other 5 being from higher queens. And so on.

in regards to 10:56 I thought it was the queens who get the guards assigned to their princes, not the princes themselves, and a lower ranking queen gets less guards but a higher ranking queen gets more, hence 1st prince benjamin and 4th prince Tserriednich both get 7 loyal guards as they are children of the 1st queen, but 2nd prince camila 5th Prince Tubepa, 7th prince Luzurus and 9th prince Halkenburg, all being children of the 2nd queen get 6 loyal guards, regardless of how low their rank is, and 1 spy from the higher ranked queen. then the children of the 3rd queen get 2 spys and 5 loyal guards, 4th queen get 3 spys and 4 loyal guards etc... meaning that even if a new 15th prince were to be born, if they were born from the 1st queen they could have 7 loyal guards regardless. This also explains why there were only 7 guards, 1 for all higher ranking queens, and not 13 gurads, as it's stated that a new guard is assigned when a new queen joins the harem and the system is then explained the the previous lower ranking queen

Another option I read a long time ago paint the surivor twin under the effect of her own guardian beast that is reacting to the loss of her dead twin... Like the ability is still working but due the weird circumstances it is going into a rampage/malevolent route (because the guardian beast is forced to operate beyond its normal parameters due the death of the other twin that is part of the ability's conditions)

I think when a prince die, the energy of their guardian nen beast will be distributed to the remaining princes thus making the other nen beasts abilities to be stronger just like in the Holy Grail. I mean this is very apparent when the three princes die, the other nen beast starts to manifest more abilities.

I was thinking ahout something recently. The phantom troupe decimated the Kurta clan for their eyes. But initially, they were not malicious but wanted revenge. What if, the people who killed their friend was part of the Kurta clan and that they were so hellbent on revenge that they made all of them suffer and the scarlet eyes were just a by product of this. And since they already were at that point, might as well rip them off and sell them.
