I stumbled upon this video a long time ago and I'm intrigued by this board game. 3 years ago, I finally bought Tokaido and I watched this video again to teach my friends. I now collect board games, this is my origin story. Thank you Rodney.

I bought this at the UK Games Expo at the weekend - it sold really well! A random gamer spotted me with it and said he had watched this very video series of the game! Watching a few of these videos ( I watched the first two or three to get a good enough idea) convinced me this is a game for me. Won my first game today! So glad I found this video. So many of the reviews for the game get the rules of the game wrong when they are explaining it. One of the reviewers stated you only draw one souvenir card instead of three and made it appear like you don't have to stop at an inn.

Great video as always! The game title screen made me feel like the traveler. Seems like a very straightforward game, clean mechanics, awesome theme. I can picture a bunch of ronin telling each other stories at the inn about the route.

This game looks awesome! I really love the mechanics of the game and theme. It really gives you that feeling of being on a journey. I like how there is little luck with simple game play, but lying deep beneath lies a very strategic game. I love games that have multiple ways to gain points. Great video!

A small issue, though: you never really went over the character-specific powers. I imagine, like most of the rules, it's all very self-explanatory but it was just something I noticed. I don't believe that's covered in the video (I shot this long enough ago, I don't recall from memory), but I think you'll find their icons explained in the rule book if some questions come up about how they work.

This could be a prequel to Takenoko (made by the same designer). The travelers in Tokaido are going to become the caretakers in Takenoko! ^_^
