I think since you are essentially trading wood for labour, and one of the core messages of the GOAT is "Ask yourself, did I grind enough today? The answer is always, you could have done more." You should provide discounts that scale with the amount of labour. For example, 6 stacks of sand may get you 1 stack of logs, but 12 stacks of sand gets you 3 stacks of logs, 18 stacks might get you 6 stacks, scaling until you can trade something ridiculous like 10 shulkers of sand for 10 shulkers of logs. Reward the grind!

In the amount of time I mine up about 12-16 small oak trees, amounting 64 oak logs, I could mine up about 4 stacks of sand. And you don’t want players to just make their own tree farms, deeming your hourglass and shop useless. Sometimes being the nice guy leads to major profits.

Doc sold a stack of wood individually wrapped in shulker boxes. Iskall will never need to buy a shulker box ever. Doc is sticking it to Big Salmon.

Suggestion: You can get around Cleo's by the same logic. Technically, she isn't selling enchanted books, so she isn't following through her permit. You can either bring that up to her or go through the permit office to have a new permit made so you can sell the books. You can use her own logic against her so she either has to pay you your share or lose the entire core of her buisness

Using diamonds as a currency makes a lot of sense, because they are worth a lot, and can be turned into blocks, so they are very space efficient and can be easily carried around. Plus, since everyone sells for diamonds, it's something you usually have ready to go in your ender chest. My biggest fear with sand is that it removes a lot of that convenience. You can't just fly to the shopping district, you first need to go sand mining, and then if the price is 4 sand per stack of wood, you're going to need to do some inventory management just to bring in the payment. This will cut into profits because many people will just think "too complicated, i'll just chop trees". So I think that having the price as low as possible will actually improve profits overall. One stack of sand per wood stack would be very convenient, two would be manageable, more might be too much. If you can convince the sand shop to set up right next to your shop you'll be golden though.

You go sand mining for a while first, then keep your sand stocks as savings. Then when you want to shop, you grab your wallet and shop. Doc should definitely make some infrastructure for getting sand miners in and out of the desert

The reason for the sand is because last season they banned sand duping because of "being authentic" reasons. And doc was building the mural with sand stone so he was forced to dig sand .

Doc, I started watching your episodes when I saw that you’d brought an ender dragon into the overworld on someone else’s channel. Truly amazing. Watched 2 seasons of your back catalogue now, and will be watching more & keeping up to date. You’ve become one of my favourite hermits and seem like a really decent guy. Just got to the point in the video where Doc shows Cleo's coffee shop. If Cleo is just selling drinks and giving away free complimentary books, then it sounds to me like she does not have a shop with any books for sale. If that is the case, then it seems like she would be in violation of the rules to maintain her book monopoly on the permit and that "someone" should technically be within the rules to obtain a new book permit to sell actual books. Maybe don't do anything until the grace period is over for people to get their shops up and running. If Cleo is still operating her coffee shop the same way at that point, then maybe Doc could petition the Office of Hermit Permits (OHP) to obtain the new second book permit and open his own book shop that actually sells books. The downside is that Doc would have to deal with Grian's shenanigans in trying not to do any work as head of the OHP.

Sell the wood for: 1stack of wood for 4stacks of sand Or 1stack of wood for 16diamonds This way you keep the business partners happy with a steady flow of blood diamonds, but you give the Hermits an option to either pay exorbitant Diamond prices for wood or a much more reasonable price of time. It’s like the ultimate Sophie’s Choice.

I would keep the prices the same Doc. If your prices are low then that means Hermits will be too lazy to build their own log farms. If your prices are too high building their own infrastructure might be a better alternative than buying logs from your shops.

You should sell the wood 1 stack for 1 stack, if its super cheap nobody will want to spend diamonds for the other woods so you get all the business. Also you should definitely report the book shop, as far as I know there isn't tea/coffee permit, which is what she is actually selling. Plus, since no one is technically selling books, you could put in a request for a new permit to be made and compete directly!

32:47 Ziggurats (the step pyramids) were a design which independently were invented in multiple places in the world. The most well known examples (and the design which matches the structure in Hermitcraft from what I could see) were from mesoamerican civilizations like the Maya, but similar designs were also built much earlier in Sumer (in what is now Iraq). There are probably more examples, but none that I can recall off the top of my head. IIRC the commonly believed reason for why so many civilizations with little to no contact with each other built such similar designs is because the structure of these step pyramids are very stable, and thus would last longer and be built more due to their success.
