Tokimonsta, you are my true inspiration to why I am becoming a music producer. My parents have also forced me to play classical music for 10+ years, and I have always focused on playing my favorite parts of a specific piece. Now, I feel I have the motivation to finally introduce myself into this industry, and this interview truly encouraged me to do it. Thanks for this great interview. Sincerely, an enthusiastic fan...!

This was one of the best interviews ever from djtt, i know there were some generic parts like at the end when she said make your own sound and stuff, but i found this to be a alot more, i don't know the word, less generic than previous interviews. Another good one to check out was how i play which was kinda like a interview with chris liedbeng or liadbieng or something but that was really good to. Keep this up i want to see some more stuff like this!!

Inside of Ableton there are tutorial links. I learned all those and now I started classes at a music college. It's actually pretty simple. It's just a matter of taking the time to go thru the tutorials.

I this this kinda awesome because i have tried FL, and i couldn't figure it out, then i saw a deadmau5 video, and saw in the comments that the software were called ableton, then i tried the demo, and after a week i had learned 10 times as much as i had for fl in 3 months. Now i've produced with ableton for a year, and it's been a great experience :)

What age did she start producing? Great interview/video btw!!!
@Maadnote11 жыл бұрын
it depends on your daw or the sampler or sample editor you are using, you can use any one of those to do it, but they are all different. in ableton you can just double click on the sample itself and then turn the transpose nob to where ever you want it

@3:35 she talks about how she will duplicate parts of the chorus and pitch it up by 7 or below by 7 to make harmonies, etc. etc.. my question is.. how do you change the pitch without effecting the speed of it?? Any answers would be deeply appreciated as this is something i've been trying to do for some time with no luck.

Hey guys is it just a preference if you don't use hardware like she does? I am 17 and I want to start making beats and I really am into the eclectic style like shlomo, tokimonsta, ta-ku....I want to use hardware because i think i will be more comftorbable, and more of an experience for me. Maybe maschine, or mpc? I'm a noob at this stuff hahaha, also what software, fruityloops, abletone? Please answer me I really have wanted to do this for around a year and I now am able to buy these things

@Zuuhle11 жыл бұрын
If you're a complete noob, then I would recommend you to do start out with FruityLoops. However, I would recommend you even more to try out the softwares before buying one. I personally, love FL Studio and Logic Pro (Mac only :/ ) because they're easy to use, and are pretty good for mixing etc. As for hardware, I would recommend just starting out with a simple MIDI keyboard. When you start making beats, it won't be easy but eventually you get the hang of it. Good luck man!

I actually found Ableton the easiest out of all the DAWs to pickup.. it was much more intuitive for me and I was up and running in no time.. maybe it's because I am a geek first and music lover second... there's a bunch of great tutorials on youtube and online courses if that's your thing!
@AizenIPlannedIt11 жыл бұрын
digital audio is just a stream of numbers, we are talking basic mathematics (addition, subtraction and division),any DAW software that uses at least 32 Bit floating point calculations will be capable of processing audio without introducing unwanted distortions, frequency response alterations or any other unwanted effect that would be 'clearly audible'. It's called 'transparency'.so from a transparency perspective all DAW software is created same.

I agree with the notion that being unique is the key to success, but I think Lucky Date hit the nail on the head, in that at the earlier stages, it's a bit tough to go that route until someone gets a firmer grasp over what they're doing.

You know, I used FL a lot, I know it like my five fingers , but I think Ableton is a lot better in dealing with piano roll and drum sequencing.The mixing section and the audio engine by themselves are way more better than Fl's! I've also tried Logic, Cubase, Reason and all of that stuff, but I've liked Ableton much more than them :/
@AizenIPlannedIt11 жыл бұрын
no they do not, unlike hardware which sounds different depending on it's built digital audio processing is just numbers.

Patience, young grasshopper. But in all seriousness, don't let ableton get you down. It has a bigger learning curve than the others DAWs out there. It's simply because it's so complex. The only tip that I can think of is to create your own workflow. Figure out what's comfortable to you. Do you want to perform your tracks to give it a live feel? Do you want to compose the track traditionally? Also don't give up and learn all the ins and outs (no pun intended) of the program!
@SirCronusofficial12 жыл бұрын
Watch tutorials on ableton. Just keep experimenting. Don't sit down in front of the computer and say,"I'm gona make some Dubstep/Dnb/Electro!" Just mess around with the vsts and effects until you get something that sounds pleasing. After doing that the songs will come together on their own.

ur still running data through a software algorithm.. different software = different sound, why would you even dispute this? not all software is of the same quality, just because is serves the same function. some daws have better sound engines than others, if you ever used more than one daw you would know this to be true

Its not the program its about talent. Come on guys not anyone that will learn ableton or fl or any daw will make a good song. Its about the talent and creativity.
