The best helpful video!! 👍👍 I travelled one month in Japan and never bought a reserved ticket as I wanted some flexibility in switching and transferring. There were plenty of free (unreserved) 😢seats every single time, even on the fun Kyoto-Tango Line, I rode them all and even found plenty of cool seats facing the sea side. Too many influencers creating panic.

I rode the Hello Kitty Shinkansen! It’s so cute. Thanks for this information. I was scared to ride with non reserved seat but maybe it’s not that bad

Oh you did! Thank you for letting me know. : ) Yes, if you are traveling on not busy season, it's a good choice that you can just pop up to the station and take any trains. I understand it's scary especially if you take from the middle stops.

Thank you so much for watching Ryuga san! Yes, busy season on non-reserved seats can be a bit stressful. It's not for everyone and reserved seats can be cheaper with EX advance discount. But I also found it great to have flexibility on the time and seats. : )

Excellent information and presentation. I wonder about trying this from Nagoya to Tokyo on a weekday evening. Will all seats be taken?
@tokyokenchan6 ай бұрын
Thank you. From Nagoya on weekday evening, it might be a little challenging. But there might be a little chance if someone get off at Nagoya. I think it's better to check Hikari too.

Hi, Kenchan do you think we could get unreserved seating to see mt fuji on wed nov 13th evening from shinagawa tokyo to shin osaka, osaka? Excited for my trip to Japan. Woohoo.
@tokyokenchan27 күн бұрын
Hi, I'm not sure if you can see Mt.Fuji in the evening. It can be a little busier in the evening than when I took in the video, so if you like to guarantee the seat, you might want to proceed to Tokyo station and take from there. Wish you a good luck. Have a great trip. :)

Hi Kengo san, thank you for the tips. I think its really better to start riding at Tokyo station. We once tried riding in Ueno for a different shinkansen, i think its the second stop from Tokyo station, non reserve was already full. But the nice lady inside the train found us a seat 😎👍 By the way, im just curious, what if you want to travel with Kenny? Can he ride the shinkansen? 🚄
@tokyokenchan6 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching Bryan san. Yes, especially trains to north is not frequent, so better to use Tokyo statoin. But I'm you could find seats from Ueno. Yes, Kenny can get on Shinkansen in a cage, but he doesn't like to be in the cage so he make sounds. ^^; It's always difficult to travel with him on train, so I end up sing a car. 😄

Thank you for this helpful video! After watching it, we are re-considering our decision to buy reserved tickets for the Kyoto-Tokyo Shinkansen on 24th December morning 10am onwards. Is that a busy time?
@migasslbАй бұрын
Thank you very much for the explanations. I just had a question, if we buy a ticket with a reserved seat, can we also take another train just like if we hadn't reserved a seat? (in case for example we arrive late at the train station)
@tokyokenchanАй бұрын
Thank you for watching. It depends on the ticket type. If you purchase ticket with regular price at the station or purchsed regular price online without discount, you can get on any non-reserved car within the same day.

Hi Kengo san, when is busy period and busy timing to avoid not having a seat in the non reserved section?
@tokyokenchan6 ай бұрын
Hello, there is no clear data, but the time I had to stand from Kyoto was January 3 or 4 on new year days. Long holidays like Golden week, Obon around Aug.13 and end of the year can be busy. But they get rid of non-reserved cars during busy holidays recently anyway.

Thank you for this informative video. Based on your experiences, is it will be super crowded on Saturday evening in November?? (from Shin-Osaka Station to Tokyo Station)
@tokyokenchan5 ай бұрын
I don't think it will be that busy. No matter how busy it is, you can get seats if you are taking from Shin-Osaka. You might want to make sure to take Shinkansen starts from Shin-Osaka.
@yuzuyuzuru72545 ай бұрын
@@tokyokenchan Initially I planned to use the VIP Liner Bus Osaka-Tokyo. But the bus ticket price on Saturday (price in Klook apps) is quite close to the price of Shinkansen tickets (ShinOsaka-Tokyo), and after seeing this video, I started to consider using the Shinkansen (non-reserved seat).😁

Hi kenchan san. Base on your experience if i travel from tokyo to kyoto in Saturday of mid November the unreserved seats crowded or not.? Btw thank you for your vedeo.
@tokyokenchan3 ай бұрын
Hello, there might be families going different places on Saturdays, but you can get seat for sure if you are taking Shinkansen from Tokyo station. If there is a long line already, you might want to wait at the platform for the next train. It runs every 10 min. or so to Kyoto. I wish you good luck. :)
