I got myself one of these things and a few long mags later on, and damn am I blown away by this. Fps stability, recoil, accuracy are all phenomenal for a GBB. The only real issue other than Marui's Joule reduction measures (the first batches of the MWS can shoot as hot as 1.5J with green gas, all otherwise stock) is that the short mag - though it looks cool it is also not as good in about everything compared to the original long mag.

BadaBingPictures great way to describe the pure feeling you feel when you use the weapon. The ability in this weather to use c02 is excellent. I am looking at rhop or air hopping the barrel to get that extra range, well more consistent shots on target anyway.

Yep. It’s an Iron Airsoft Polymer 40rd magazine that I’ve been testing out. It’s amazingly light, as well as having a slightly larger capacity. Only it appears to be inconsistent from one to the other. Mine runs okay, but I’ve heard poor performance from other users. I’d recommend the original TM ones just in case.

only 0.8J? Wow that's quite low! My stock CQBR clocked at 1.35J with GG. Did they change something in the nozzle? Also did you experience any locking back issues with the new ambi bolt catch?
@Dizzyfatpigeon
@Dizzyfatpigeon 6 жыл бұрын
Lorenzo Yuan it’s for Japanese fps limits. No weapons can exceed 280fps or 0.8j. (Even snipers o think) that’s why their barrel and nozzle is designed to work extremely consistent with 134a gas
@BadaBingPictures
@BadaBingPictures 6 жыл бұрын
I was surprised too. I was expecting it to be similar to my M4 and shoot over 1J. I didn’t notice anything different about the nozzle on the outside, but as this was a loaner gun I couldn’t take it apart for inspection. I think I had one instance where it didn’t lock back but that’s due to using GG and the parts were too quick to catch. In the same way that happens with the original M4 MWS.
@kornelcajka5320
@kornelcajka5320 6 жыл бұрын
@@Dizzyfatpigeon All japenese guns will shoot below 1J with duster gas but when it's filled with green gas (which has a higher pressure) you will notice a substantial increase in fps if not mechanically inhibited. The person that made the comment is asking what is done to the rifle that limits its fps.

@BadaBingPictures
@BadaBingPictures 5 жыл бұрын
They’re excellent yes. But as you’re already aware there’s a penalty with reduced ammo and gas capacity. In any case the one I had to play with on this video fed very well and you could squeeze around 40ish from a single gas charge. Would look great for DMR’s and any upcoming early period M16 kits. I wouldn’t buy one but I know quite a few people have been dreaming of having a Vietnam era build.

I'm slowly changing my mind. Even though I'm still not an M4 fan, mainly because they are so boring and I also hate their charging handle and fire selector, but this one having an ambi selector and ambi bolt lock negates those problems. I dunno, it may be a very practical gun. If only the outer barrel wasn't that shiny. I absolutely love the USP9 and the MP7 so a 3rd Marui may not be a bad idea. Instead of the GHK AUG that I had my eye on for years but never actually bought. I wonder if I'd replace the inner barrel with a 400mm 6.03 tightbore, would that bump up the fps to 400ish? I'm allowed to go up to 1.55 J. Some time ago someone in a youtube comment gave me expected values for power increase per inch of inner barrel and also with tighter barrel unfortunately I didn't write it down :-/
@BadaBingPictures
@BadaBingPictures 4 жыл бұрын
You and AR-15's? NOOOooo, say it ain't so. ;-) you're right about the MTR having the little differences that distances itself from traditional AR's. Sure, longer tightbore would give you a boost in FPS. My friend used a widebore 410mm 6.08 inner barrel in his TM M4 and it granted him 385-400fps. If I recall correctly. The GHK AUG though...don't see many of those beauties around.
@sogerc1
@sogerc1 4 жыл бұрын
@@BadaBingPictures Have you seen the OD version of the GHK AUG on samoon? Looks even better! It's just that the gun with spare mags, shipping, customs and vat costs as much as a kidney or something :D Come to think of it the MTR16 wouldn't be any cheaper... Maybe one day I'll justify to myself buying one of these.

The thing is my choice may not be for the same reasons as yours. I like the GHK because of the feeling you get when you use it. The recoil sensation, metallic operation and most of all the realism. The overall experience feels more than an airsoft gun. I like the TM because it’s so adapted for performance. It’s snappy action and consistent groupings makes for a fierce gaming gun. Take from that what you will. There’s a million ways to break it down but I’ll go into that in my part 2 video, which I really want to get made this year. (I’ve been procrastinating a little if I’m honest, lol)

@BadaBingPictures
@BadaBingPictures 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I guess it comes down to preferring GBB’s and choosing ones from reputable brands that aren’t going to break or fail. Especially if it’s ones I buy purely for review purposes and not for my own collection. If I buy something which turns out it isn’t as good as it should be, or something breaks during production, it’s a monumental kick in the teeth as it often takes time and money to rectify and finally move on. It’s a lot of money to tie up in my YT budget and in that scenario it halts other projects. That’s probably why you see me with a lot of GHK and TM’s, lol. Over the past several months I’ve had the opportunity to review things sent in, this MTR for example. In return for the loan I simply provide the links of where to obtain said item, and I get to retain creative control. So I can keep these honest and everybody wins. If I’m offered to take a look at the 417 NGRS, I’ll take it.

I'm not familiar with gbbrs, so I gotta ask... are the barrels same as with aegs? If so, how much it would affect fps if you'd put something like 6,03mm tightbore barrel in it, same length? That 0,8j seems just way too low for outdoor use (and no, not even the TM magic dust will help it :'P) when people are running with aegs and just below 1,7 joules that can reach far further (and accurately too). 1,7 joule is the max for full auto in our groups, so asking because I'm VERY interested about this TM (just about only TM I'm interested in actually) =)
@BadaBingPictures
@BadaBingPictures 5 жыл бұрын
The inner barrels are not the same. They are the GBB type and very close to the VSR inner barrels. Tight bore inner barrels will increase the FPS, even if the barrel is merely longer than the original this will increase the FPS. On the contrary, it’s not too low for outdoor play. Many people continue to run their TM GBBR’s stock, myself included, and it is by no means inadequate. It’s very easy to squeeze more out of them though, even easier than most electric guns. Plug in a new inner barrel that reaches to the end of the outer barrel (the original is only 250mm iirc) and it can be the equivalently a dmr in terms of FPS. You will always be at a disadvantage to AEG’s anyway because of the sheer volume of firepower available to them. But the challenge of running gas rifles is worth it.
@finnishfatman
@finnishfatman 5 жыл бұрын
@@BadaBingPictures Ok, thanks for the info :) And I suppose you're 100% correct with gas rifles being worth it. After all, I'd imagine it's way more fun to run around with more realistic gun (which also looks good, this one in particular) and operate it nearly as you would the real steel one. Also glad to hear it's not really inferior (other than firerate, which I personally don't count as disadvantage because I like firerate to be at least somewhat realistic, not 60 rps... :P) when it comes to gameplay. Thinking about it, most encounters are pretty close anyway with all kinds of buildings and thick forest blocking the way, so there's that. And smaller capacity magazines only should add to the realistic style I would think. I could nearly play a whole round with my "dmr" aeg using 150 round midcap, and just that one... which doesn't seem very realistic to me. Granted, with that gun I'm not doing any assault stuffs, so take a shot here and there, but still it can get a bit boring sometimes. Bolt locking back and the need to change mags during encounters should make things a lot more interesting :P Oh and good videos. Lot of info and reviews seem to be pretty darn good. Not just how the guns look on the outside, but good info about their operation too. Not to mention other videos you have. You have way less subscriptions than you deserve, but here's one more anyway, for what it's worth :)
@BadaBingPictures
@BadaBingPictures 5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Having the crisp recoil followed by the bolt locking back, it’s such a gameplay enhancement. Employing weapon manipulations beyond merely slapping a new magazine into the rifle. With a few teammates using them along with LMG’s, it adds another edge for a realistic fire team. Thanks for tuning in to my little corner of the tube. Good to have another viewer, much appreciated.

Congrats on the purchase. Using GG/Propane will wear out the nozzle spring over time. So pick up a reinforced spring set. The plastic buffer has been known to break also. But saying that mines still going like a champ...so it’s all down to luck. As your working parts are going to be moving at a quicker rate, the bolt lock may not engage fast enough to grab it. Simple fix is to unscrew the castle nut and unscrew the buffer tube a single turn. This allows a little more room for the BC to move rearward and time for the bolt lock plate to flick up. *Keep and eye out for the rear pin spring that pops out from behind the end plate* . It can be lost easily, or get damaged when you are reseating the end plate and begin screwing the castle nut back in. That’s about it.

@BadaBingPictures 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! At the moment it is a tie between the two. In my opinion the Marui MWS is better than the V1 GHK M4. But the introduction of the V2 has stepped GHK further along so now it stands next to the Marui M4. Not in front of it and not behind it. I could not choose between them. But the 2019 GHK M4 may change my decision... ;-)

How are you doing BadaBing? So you'll be happy to find out that I've pulled the trigger (pun intended) and ordered the MTR16 yesterday. Everybody loves the MWS so I wanted to see what the fuss is about. And I was also thinking that my GBBRs are replicas of army/special forces guns so I should have a competition one too, right? I mean I pride myself in owning a varied collection. I got 20 rounder spare mags too, just because they don't look so conventional. But I might have not done myself any favours with them in case I go to games with the MTR16. Eh, f**k it, I like to reload GBBRs anyway. I will only have 120 rounds on me, not a lot but I die often anyway, I'm not the best player nor do I aspire to be.

I’m doin’ great. How you doin? Well well well…look who’s jumped on the bandwagon! To be fair the MTR-16 is a banging performance platform. It’s been known to shred the competition, so you’ve done well to adopt one. Congrats on your new blaster. Ehh, just have fun out there 👍

@@BadaBingPictures I seem to remember you wishing "happy new gun day" or something similar to people but not yet to me, so, khm... It has just arrived today. I'm not sure how much I love it yet, to my surprise the right side fire selector screw was not properly tightened. And my beard got cought a few times in the hole on top of the stock, not sure why that hole is there. And the handstop I bought for it is crappy plastic, I may have to throw it out, but the mlok covers I got are actual magpul, those are nice. The bolt release is stiff and the mags are almost impossible to remove when the bolt is closed but I'm writing these off as positives. I keep accidentally closing the bolt on my WE Scar and once I even accidentally dropped a mag on a stone because of the soft mag release. Fortunately it's an H, the mag has the big plastic floorplate, the mag survived the incident. Does your MWS hold on this tight to the mags?

@@BadaBingPictures Thank you, that's better. I meant that the mag release button is almost impossible to push on a closed bolt. But I don't mind, the bolt catch seems reliable enough. My usual M4 gripes are not that bad with this thing, the stiff and ambi selector and catch/release solves my issues, although somehow the ambi T-handle is even worse. I hate the T-handle. That's the worst part of the MP7 too.

Happy new gun day to you! If you are using green gas or anything stronger than 134a/144a, your bolt carrier might be moving too quickly for the catch to have time to flick up and engage. If that’s the case, unscrew your castle nut ring and unscrew your buffer tube one turn. That should give it the increased travel and time enough to engage the bolt lock.

@@BadaBingPictures thank you! Would green gas be recommended for this airsoft? In the US here it’s hard to get TM recommended gas
@BadaBingPictures
@BadaBingPictures 2 жыл бұрын
If that’s all you can find, then that’ll have to do. As the working parts move much quicker with that kind of fuel, it’ll wear out the nozzle spring. So you should invest in an upgraded version. The buffer has been known to break, as it’s plastic. Although mine has been fine for all these years. A metal one might be worth buying. That’s about all you’d need to prepare your rifle for the long haul of using GG. Presently it should be fine for a while as they’re quite hardy little guns.

I would not buy this gun! But this is not an MTR16 criticism, I firmly believe if the US army wouldn't have adopted the gun it would've been forgotten by now. It has so many shortcomings: - the fire selector has a 180 degree travel, you have to break your grip badly to use it. I have an M16 AEG that I never put on semi, it's so uncomfortable, it has a mosfet programmed to burst/full and I switch to my sidearm in buildings. - the charging handle is in an awkward position, hard to operate when the gun is shouldered - the bold release is also kind of awkward, probably that's why people do the slapping with their palms - the fixed buffer tube does not allow folding stocks so the gun takes up unnecessary storage space But to end this comment on a positive tone, mag changes are the fastest and easiest with the AR15.
