For this Tokyo nightlife food tour, I was on the Best of Tokyo Food Tour with David from The Hungry Tourist. His tours are one of a kind and focus on deep high end food!
For more details check out The Hungry Tourist:

►Facebook: / thehungrytourist
Osaka Hyakkaten - This was the first sport we went to, just outside Yurakucho station. We ate takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and yakisoba. They were different styles from what I’ve normally eaten, and were pretty good, especially when seasoned with lots of sauce.
Shimbashi Station - In Tokyo, the area around Shimbashi station is known for being a Tokyo nightlife area for salary-men / office workers, so this is where we headed next.
Land Bar - This tiny secret closet sized bar is very cool. Bartender was amazing.
Gyoza Gaudí (yes, named after Antoni Gaudí) - This is an amazing little gyoza spot, with all sorts of different flavors you can choose from. The gyoza’s were delicious.
Thank you to The Hungry Tourist for inviting me on The Best of Tokyo Food Tour.
I didn’t personally pay for the food in this video.

that's the way youtubers are supposed to do out of courtesy to those guiding and paying for them. Truth be told, the bartender guy was rude af but for viewers and his fishy guides, Mark has to pretend to have enjoyed everything :)

J Wilson so hes faking it? but it wouldn't surprise me if hes faking it because there is nothing special except the ice is perfectly shaped lol
@benzaitenapollo4163
@benzaitenapollo4163 6 жыл бұрын
Francisco Liawi//yes of course he has to fake it even when the food is not quite good because a considerable part of his Japan trip seems completely coordinated by some organization sending some weird folks accompanying him (basically, Mark Wiens can make a lot of good videos on his own but in his recent japan videos he seems to have no freedom of choice as to where to make his videos...you have to ask yourself why things are going on this way). If somebody or some organization pays for your all travel expenses and then isn't it a common sense that you have to do something for the person or organization in return? :)

It's not much of a stretch to say that the bartender didn't speak any English. For him, he was making out a bill while the foreign tourists and their handlers were speaking English to each other on the way out.

It's really nice seeing someone so respectful as a tourist. A lot of us Westerners can be so rude, and you definitely always leave a good impression on people and hopefully make us look a bit better. My city is touristy and bad tourists are just so frustrating. I imagine Tokyo gets hit hard by it.

Mark's Tokyo food tour with David together just got to another mastery level. They are mostly common street foods but Mark could get me feel like they are luxury foods. The underground bar is also exotic. Thanks!

when I was over in Japan in the Marine Corps, a couple of the guys and I liked to go exploring locales, and hidden gems. Found a public bath that was AWESOME! And one time, just followed neon arrows that led up some steps into a corridor and ultimately to a door. It was an apartment converted into a bar. The lady who lived there simply enjoyed our company and talked. She would make us food, etc. She also used to be a singer. She showed us album covers of her and her band, and would play her music. Wonderful experience!!!

gyoza is definitely one of my favourite Japanese food alongside with sushi, salad and bento. during my university era, i used to eat deep-fried gyozas as the skin was golden brown and crispy. anyway, i am looking forward to eat the freshly handmade gyozas! if you still love dumplings, you can go to northern China like Xian and Beijing to try them out since dumplings are the staple food for the northern Chinese alongside with other wheat-based food like steamed buns called mantou and noodles. they either steam, boil or pan-fried their dumplings as well.
