TOKYO has been rocked by a 6.1 magnitude earthquake causing buildings to sway.
The tremor struck at 10.41pm local time and also led to trains being stopped in Japan's capital city.
But there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, and officials said there was no danger of a tsunami.
Japan's Meteorological Agency said the quake was centred in Chiba prefecture, just east of Tokyo, at a depth of 48 miles.
NHK public television showed a sign hanging from the ceiling in its office swaying violently.
Passengers were injured when a subway train was suddenly brought to a halt by the quake.
Power lines shook in Tokyo's Suginami district and Shinkansen super express trains in and out of Tokyo were temporarily halted, NHK said.
Private broadcaster TBS reported incidents of water pipes bursting in Tokyo.

@@leejoee02 exactly, the only unfortunate thing is that geologically the whole Japan have been created by tectonic plates smashing together, and so creating underwater mountains, which we see as islands from our perspective, their government should start to invest in floating artificial islands in which evacuate in case of emergencies.

In fact, the Japanese bullet train Shinkansen stops before the earthquake reaches land. Sounds suspicious, but it is quite easy to explain why, because even there Japan has taken very good precautions. Japan has a special alarm and earthquake detection system called UrEDAS. Off the coast, in the sea (mainly in the Pacific) are very many seismographs, which directly, should there be a seaquake or earthquake, send a stop signal to all affected trains. So it was possible that in 2011 during the Tōhoku earthquake the Shinkansen came to a standstill already about 10 seconds before the earthquake hit.

Are you that dumb? A chunk of Spain was experiencing wild fires not too long ago (not sure if the fires are still going) and we stuff like this all the time whether it be in an actual forest or like grassy hills. These things always happen around Europe. Croatia only last year experienced an earthquake, and its not rare to experience tremors in and around that area. Tornados I'll admit are more uncommon, but we still get small ones. But during the hurricane season, Europe now faces stronger winds than ever before. Whilst La palma isn't part of mainland Europe, its still a Spanish island and that is currently in the middle of a volcanic eruption. As you move north to like the UK, you get heavy rainfall each year leading to mass flooding and let's not forget all the issues surrounding snow/ice.

What is "shindo 5+"? There is "magnitude" in the world as an index showing the magnitude of an earthquake. However, the energy of an earthquake diminishes as it moves away from the epicenter. In other words, even with an energy (magnitude) earthquake, the damage situation differs depending on the region. Therefore, in Japan, the seismic intensity "shindo" scale is traditionally used. Up to "shindo4", the damage from the earthquake is unlikely. If it exceeds "shindo5", damage is expected to occur, but at "5" it is considered to be minor. Luckily, no one died and no one was seriously injured in the quake.

It's better than living in a world where you don't know when you're going to be shot or when you're going to be kidnapped. Natural disasters are a test given by the (Japanese) gods, but guns and kidnappings are the result of human malice. There are only about 10 kidnappings a year and only one or two gun crimes a year in Japan.

@Go To Channel [𝐋!𝐯𝐞 S.A.X] my original post was in no way intended to be disrespectful. If anyone was upset that was not my intent. Quite the opposite. Only in Japan could a 6-1 hit causing zero panic. With such relatively little damage. The damage being sorted out on the same day. No it’s the end of the world everyone is about to die! Mass panic is the true danger. No everyone cram into the lifts. Running out into traffic. Oh I will just stand right next to this very old very tall glass covered building. I will be totally safe and unharmed when shards of glass smash into me at speeds that will destroy a car like a sledgehammer hitting a raw hens egg. The hearts of the Japanese are a force of nature never to be underestimated by the ignorance or arrogance of others
