Hey Paolo I wanted to invite you to one of my unique nightlife tour. I run my own bar hopping nightlife tours in tokyo in an area called Kichijoji. the area is called harmonica alley, just like what was shown. everything is way cheaper then most places in tokyo and the people are awesome and friendly. Only downside is that its all in Japanese. But thats where I come in to help bridge the gap between the locals and travelers. I know you speak Japanese but If interested, message me for details, but You can find me via airbnb for tokyo nightlife experience. I have over 250 reviews and started back in september. And this is all done by me only! a one man army! and I speak English, spanish and japanese :) hope to hear from you soon!

I love your videos Paolo! They're so refreshing to watch and make all of us food lovers go drooling. It'd be really helpful and cool if you could do a video on top 10 or 15 useful/necessary phrases when you're trying to order street food and stuff. Would really appreciate it!
@StraightUpEats6 жыл бұрын
Oh, that's a great idea @VengefulPlant! You can definitely get by by just pointing and holding the number of fingers you want of that item. Most of these street food vendors in these areas are used to dealing with foreigners with very little Japanese skill. But knowing how to say certain things would be incredibly useful, like "I don't need it in a bag" or "Can I have extra tissues?" or something like that!
@VermillionWalker6 жыл бұрын
Yeah learning how to say certain food-related stuff would really ease the journey!

Really? Thats so cool. I have been going to Tokyo for 11 years now and always stay nearby so Kichi is my favorite area in all of Japan. How was it like in the 60s? I can imagine it has changed so much. Any plans to go back? Im going again in one month. :)
Another great video Paolo! I've never even heard of Kichijoji but it's definitely going on my list of places to visit. I would love for you and Maiko to make a Q&A video so we could learn more about the two of you :) I know I'm not the only one that wants more details about the proposal!

This video may be 4 years old, and granted you are eating "street food", but I'm surprised at how reasonably priced it all is, especially since you normally hear about how expensive everything is in Japan. I think it looks like a lot more fun to walk around and discover several new Japanese foods while you're discovering a new neighborhood, on the cheap, as opposed to sitting down to some fine dining experience and racking up a much bigger bill. I've got to brush up on my Japanese language skills before my visit, because I'd much rather enjoy the language as I enjoy the food and culture of Japan, which can only increase my total immersive experience and enjoyment level, as opposed to being lost and struggling like most usual tourists from the U.S. or anywhere else for that matter.
