Tokyo is much bigger and crazier than NY. 4-5x bigger. Also most of Japan is basically one massive city connected by the Shinkansen. Also it is obviously much safer than NY so you can always enjoy going out without worrying about your safety, even by yourself late at night in any neighborhood. Actually, pretty much anywhere in Southeast/East Asia is 100% safe, Plus you have quick access to all of the amazing Asian cities from Bangkok to Seoul within a quick flight.
