I was gifted the Japanese version in summer of 99 when I was staying in hospital for a few months. I had a room with a scart CRT and this game blew me away. Absolutely love it today. I'm enjoying the video.

I was 10 years old when the dream cast released I bought it on launch here in the UK and I loved it since opening the box. Hearing that it's 15 years old now really makes me feel old. Great review.

Well it is a quarter of a century old haha. I still think 'sonic adventure' is the best game for the dreamcast but that might be just nostalgia clouding my judgement lol. Anyway i love your reviews, you always have a little backstory to each one and it adds emotion to it i think. Not many reviewers do that. Keep up the good work mate :)

i played this for the very first time tonight , i dismissed it many years ago as i didnt particularly enjoy the second game , but now i think i'm in love , it's surpassed Options tuning battle type R for me , as my number 1. mind blown! great review.

I love this game. I think I completed it four times. I like the graphics, the style, the music and gameplay mechanics.

What do you think about the second part? I am playing that one right now again. I Always though it was disappointing. Great graphics, but with SCART it only outputs in silly 50 hz and with VGA the slowdown gets even worse. I think the music is a step back, the loading times are too long and the difficulty balancing is a bit worse. I have played all the sequels that were released in PAL territories and the NTSC-J Saturn prequel of sorts.

Amazing review i too was changed forever on this game & will forever be my fav played first time when i was like 9 yrs old blew my mind to who i am today,currently a certified mecanic specialized in electronics and racing tune ups currently driving a 240sx tip top racing shape and still on the dream of owning a 240z and building up to date to the devil z specs from engine performance to chasis

sk8erdot101 Thanks man! That is really awesome! I owned an RX-8 for a couple years and loved it. It's a bit impractical for me now (and that rotary engine loved to flood...) but hope to get a 350/370z in the future, or the Scion/Subaru FR-S. This game, along with the early Fast and Furious movies really shaped my view of cars that I still hold to this very day :) Thanks for the comment!!

I logged in more time on the TXR series of games more than Gran Turismo. This series is worse than heroin. Once it grabs a hold of you, it doesn't let go. Plus, the release of the Dreamcast was the last great system launch that was actually a big deal to me personally, and the last launch that impressed me. It was a huge step up in my opinion. The later console launches didn't really feel the same and they really didn't impress me. I find it ironic that Dreamcast handled 60fps like a champ, a problem current generation consoles still struggle with, even today.

I'm right there with you. I'm wife (girlfriend at the time) was in the school marching band away at a football game and I was walking through Walmart bored out of my mind and I bought this game just on a whim. So glad I did. I loved this game. It was probably my favorite racing game until Forza.

implantgames I emulate them, mainly cause shipping prices are outrageous in Romania. I always wanted a Dreamcast and an original Xbox but again, shipping prices. I do have 2 PS2's, one that I had from new and one that was chipped and was my friends' that I repaired. It can run pirated disks but I don't have a DVD Drive in my PC so, emulation it is. But I really hope you review the whole series, apart from CGRM which the reviews are kinda "get it cause its cheap" and they don't go in depth.
