Kenchan, what is the ultimate IC card that can be use in both Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara and Osaka beside JR Pass, especially for foreigner/tourist? there's so many type of JR Pass available, what do you suggest is the best (economic) type if we only wants to travel those four regions?

ビデオをありがとう。 旅行するときは、他の人が通らない道も好きです。 そうすることでより本格的なものになります。 不思議なことに、京都のことを知れば知るほど、東京よりも京都の方が好きになります。😊 Thanks for the video. When I travel, I also like the paths that not everyone else takes. That makes it more authentic. Strangely, the more I know about Kyoto, the more I like it better than Tokyo.

Bear san, I agree. It's not difficult to find places with almost nobody, but aesthetic and photogenic. I think many people leave Kyoto before finding it, and I'm sure I have a lot more to explore. Still, I'm TOKYO Kenchan, so I need to make better videos to convince you to like Tokyo too. haha.

@@tokyokenchan Haha ! Appreciate your dedication to making the best content for us! A little bit off topic KenChan but I have a question about car rentals in Tokyo area... This will be my 3rd time in Tokyo so I have done most of the tourist things. My question for you is this: do you think it is worth it for me to rent a car so I can travel to some areas outside of Tokyo that are only accessible by car? Or do you think it is not worth it because I would have to park my rental at the hotel for 4 days? I also figure that driving in and around Tokyo there might be a lot of traffic as well?! I just wanted to know your thoughts on this topic! Thanks as always KenChan!
@tokyokenchan
@tokyokenchan 2 жыл бұрын
@ANIMALFRIES san (I wish I knew your name to call you :) ) renting car is a great idea, but it's not something I would recommend to anybody. If you come back to Tokyo at night, that cost a lot for parking, and traffic can be bad as you mentioned. It might be better to get just for a day and return at night if you prefer to do so. Also, you can get rental car near the destination you like to visit. Your travel experience might be influenced by how much you can get used to driving in Tokyo as we drove the other side from the US. At least, I went into the other lane when I drove in California first time. But that can be just me. :) I understand your point that many places in Japan are only accessible by car, or inconvenient to go by bus.

The last one is 20:59 Kyoto - Tokyo 23:29. The first Nozomi is 6:00am Tokyo - Kyoto 8:09am. The last Nozomi is 21:38 Kyoto - Tokyo 23:45. So you have enough time to visit major places in Kyoto in a day trip.

how do you get from Arashiyama area to Kinkaku-Ji (Golden Pavilion)
@tokyokenchan

There are 3 stations in Arashiyama. You can take Keifuku Arashiyama line to Katabiranotsuji, change to Keifuku Kitano line to Omuro-Ninnaji, and take bus 59 from in front of Ninnaji. If take about 30 minutes.

Hi, my family of 5(with 1 Senior) will be visiting Osaka for 2 weeks. Do you recommend that we should also stay at Kyoto? We are planning for 2 days only at Kyoto so we can also have a budget for Kobe. Our only concern is bringing our big luggages. The delivery of luggage service is a bit of additional expense to us as well.

Hello. In case you have lots of luggage, one idea is to stay in Osaka and make a day trip or two to Kyoto. It's only 30 min from JR Osaka station to JR Kyoto station.

Thank you for such a kind message and I'm glad you enjoyed Nikko and Kamakura! For the train, you can make reservation from here. www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/route_search/index.html?p=sagano It might be a little cold in winter, and it's closed between end of Dec. to end of February. I hope you enjoy. :) @@kaziraishaa.8149

Hello. It was this place. www.en-kyoto.yumeyakata.com/ Not a convenient location, so you might want to take taxi to the place you want to walk or take photos. Hope you enjoy Kyoto :)

Hey Ken love your videos with insightful details. I read it's not encouraged to travel to Japan from 29 Dec to 2 Jan especially in big cities as many people will take leave and go back to their hometowns. Besides that, some restaurants and tourist attractions may not open and hotels are expensive too. appreciate your advise. Thanks.

Thank you for watching and your comment. Yes, the major concern is the hotel price and the super crowded trains. So as long as you can find hotel rooms and staying in Tokyo or Kyoto, it's a good time to visit as you can see the festive atmosphere of end of the year and near year. But it gets difficult if you try to move inter cities, or go to popular destinations such as skiing or hot-springs. Small stores may close from the end of year to new year, but most major stores close only on Jan 1, some on 2nd too. :) I wish you the best trip to Japan.
