FYI: The leather itself is "fake" yes but if something is glued, this glue often contains some sort of non vegan stuff i.e animal glue ( includes collagen which is often won out of bones or skin from animals) coloring of the leather can contain animal products like Carmine or the softener can be non vegan aswell (altough this is quite rar these days in PVC products i think). So vegan leather means no animal products are used anywhere, neither in production nor the product itself

I think that the advantage of the Quiver Nexus boxes linking together is that when you put them in a Quiver, or in a messenger bag, backpack, etc, then they don't bounce around and scratch/damage each other. It also can make the bag they are in more stable. I use a canvas messenger bag for my mtg trips, and it can stack five boulders long, one boulder wide, and three boulders tall. The only downside is that setting it on the floor means if the boxes are not aligned correctly the whole thing can slump over and get messed up (IE, wide and fat from the boxes collapsing). If I could lock them together into a monolithic structure for transport then pop them apart at my destination, that would make carrying them more comfortable and easier.

It's amazing to think that Prof has been doing these reviews for a LONG time. One thing I am amazed about since his move to the new office space is the amazing quality control regarding videos and their production. @OzoneBaby7 күн бұрын
Prof, thank you so much for continuing to do these. I bought my outer sleeves, inner sleeves, and deckbox almost entirely on your recommendations because you are thorough and consistent with what these reviews cover. I have bought thousands of resealable inner sleeves because they fit my exact use case (I hate how, with traditional inner sleeves, when you put them into an outer sleeve the card has the potential to peek out the bottom of the inner sleeve) and watching you dunk one of your cards with those resealable inners into a fishbowl of water told me everything I need to know. Truly, thank you for covering stuff like this that is hard to find or hard to trust elsewhere.
@OzoneBaby7 күн бұрын
@DaClaptain Gotcha. For me, that has nothing to do with Prof dunking cards in water or shaking the shit out of deckboxes to show security. Which is what I care about in these reviews: not just nice words and pictures but use cases, extreme limits, breadth of capability. Ebegging doesn't really affect that part of the review, does it?

Oh man. I feel like an idiot. I bought 3 of those Gamegenic Sidekick Pro XLs, because I like to carry lots of tokens and dice with me depending on what decks I'm playing (I got a white one for Marath, for example, literally no deck outproduces me in tokens unless that deck is Ghave). I got them yesterday, and went, "Man, this card case is really hard to open, hot damn" but I managed to get the two pieces apart and slip Marath in there and close it back up. Then I see this video, watch it was usual and see.... when it said "slide card case" in the product description, it meant the *case slides open*, not just that the card case *slides out of the deck box* The good news is that I didn't break the card case, so it's even somewhat idiot proofed!

@@matejvodrazka7847 Yes, if you get the XL it will fit double sleeved Commander decks with some additional space for tokens With Marath, I have the deck double sleeved with KMC inners and Dragon Shield matte sleeves. I have the space to have the 99+Marath, 3 Elemental tokens, a treasure token, an Eldrazi spawn token (for Basking Broodscale), a squirrel token (Squirrel Nest), a food token (specifically just for Rosie Cotton lol), and a generic dry erase token. I also have some extra cards in inner sleeves in the box as a makeshift sideboard, a Gaddock Teeg and a couple of others, plus a divider to separate these cards from the rest of the deck. There's still some room to spare, too. If you use really thick inner sleeves like those hard ones, maybe you'd have less room, but I keep a bunch of extra cards in my boxes now. @@matejvodrazka7847 I only single-sleeve my cards, but I fit the deck and 20+ token cards (also sleeved) in it, so I imagine if you double-sleeve, you could potentially fit a couple token cards in there. From Gamegenic's website: "The Sidekick PRO holds 100 double-sleeved cards in extra Thick Inner Sleeves. It can also fit 100 regular double-sleeved cards and has extra room for token cards." So I wouldn't count on many tokens when double-sleeved, but since they specify "extra-thick inner sleeves," you could probably still fit a few tokens.

The Quiver Time Nexus having the ability to attach to one another might seem like a bit of a gimmick, but I'd say it's mighty handy. As someone, who travels around with a decent sized backpack, the Nexus' linking together like that makes it much better for carrying them around. Them being snapped together means they shake around and consequently bump around alot less. Also, when getting ready to start play, just pulling out a nice row of them cleanly out of the bag instead of rummaging for each box separately would be a nice quality of life. As my collection of decks continues to grow, my need for more containers grows alongside it and I think that for a standardized set of boxes, the Nexus looks very much like something I would strongly consider buying in bulk for decks, that aren't getting something a little more fancy from me.

Bout time! Actually had hoped Prof would look at these esp the Heavy Play. The UG art deck boxes surprisingly impressed me in person

One of my favorite deck boxes was bought for me by my wife. They are Mage Tech Commander boxes. It has a better commander case than the gamegenic deck box, it comes with a divider to keep your tokens separate, and It also has a dice drawer. The flap can also be used to angle the box which is sometimes useful.

I wasn't completely sold on the Quiver Nexus but as soon as you put 8 together and shook them I've heavily considered buying at least 3 so I can throw them in my bag and then they don't jaggle around. When I see them pop up in the UK they'll be a buy for sure.

Gamegenic for EDH has been my go to. The Bastion 100+ XL looks good, is easy to open, secures very well, and can hold a full double sleeved deck + 15-20 tokens. The only thing Gamegenic does not have which I wish they did is a box for other 60 card constructed decks. when it comes to sealed i love to keep my deck in the Bastion 50. but for my 60 card decks (and 15 card sideboard) I normally have to look elsewhere because the Bastion 50 simply cannot hold it all. I have heard the Ultimate Guard Boulder 80 is a good pick so i might try that, but until Gamegenic makes an 80 card deckbox I will continue my search.

Went to bed after watching your comparison video from last year to boulders and towers, and woke up to this. Good timing! I’ve started playing TCGs in person (which means I can now play FAB, which has been fun), and so I’m finally in need of accessories like these. Thank you 🙏

Ahhh, I love the accessory reviews! Also, the GameGenic stuff looks great as well as the Quiver stuff - I would just prefer a version of the Quiver with a mat compartment.

Hot tip, if you want a frosted exterior on a normal hard plastic shell, use high grit sandpaper. 400+ works well. (best to wet sand)

Even Gamegenic's Side Holder 100+ XL deckboxes are really great quality! I was skeptical because I just needed something cheap on the go and they were like 3 bucks at my LGS but they're definitely not like the old Ultra Pro flip plastic deck boxes. There's something in the water...or plastics?...at Gamegenic.

Retailer here! I would like to report that I was able to order the magnetic heavy play deck and dice boxes from my distributor. I had a customer who wanted a special order for them and we pretty much ordered the remaining stock, as he wanted 12 boxes. While we did clear out the offering, this shows that they can be ordered after the distributor gets more.

the funny part about Prof shaking the deck boxes is that I know I have a deck box that would fly open and throw my cards everywhere

Love the accessories reviews! That's how I found TCC as primarily a player of other card games. I trust the professor, and I know he's not going to be trashing other products to juice up his own deck box, but it does feel like a conflict of interest now.

I used to buy exclusively the Ultimate Guard Sidewinders but now that I have more than 8 decks, I think I'm going to make the switch to Gamegenic boxes -- I'm pleased with the quality of my Sidewinders but it's annoying not being able to tell which deck is which at a glance. Plus, Gamegenic boxes can be open without taking up lots of space.

Last week I bought like 6 gamegenic bastions, they are probably my favorite deck box so far, easily fits my sleeved edh decks, tokens, and a life counter wheel. No bells and whistles. It's probably better for my wallet that those heavy play boxes are all so expensive, now I'm not tempted to just buy 16 of them lol

It's really nice that the market has gotten to the point that you can buy pretty much anything from your LGS and have a reasonable expectation that it at least won't fall apart. So many good options available now!

Worth noting that the Heavy Play's magnet system is a lot more restrictive than the Nexus interlocking system. All of the RFG deckboxes only have magnets on one side, meaning you can attach two deckboxes and nothing else. Similarly, the Dicebox only has magnets on one side - but the Dicebox MAX is double sided. So you can do [Deckbox - Dicebox MAX - Deckbox], but only [Deckbox - Dicebox]. Also want to point out that the Deckbox MAX flap is intended to be folded into a weird triangle shape when open to take up less table space, so it's not quite as bad that it doesn't lie flat, but it's still awkward Also, Ultimate Guard has been using "Xenoskin" for ages now :P so "Armorfyber" isn't really that out of line
