2:54 It's pretty ironic that Caracalla was a great admirer of Alexander and also the last known person who visited the legendary conqueror's tomb, considering the fact he was probably one of the worst things that ever happened to the city of Alexandria. When he murdered his brother Geta and became Emperor, many citizens of Alexandria reacted to such tragedy by making caricatures of him. Caracalla responded to this insult by slaughtering the deputation of leading citizens who had unsuspectingly assembled before the city to greet his arrival in December 215, before setting his troops against Alexandria for several days of looting and plunder. This brutal order seems to have been carried out even beyond the letter, as the massacre ended up affecting every citizen in general. According to Cassius Dio, over 20,000 people were killed in that event.

Caracalla was comedically evil. Like pretty much every policy decision he made was either because he was a bastard or because he needed a way to keep his regime in tact. Share the burden of power with Geta? No, violently butcher him in front of our mother. Pay the legions their ascension donative but get their wage bill under control? No, like father said “Pay the soldiers and scorn all other men” (that began the inflation that would nearly kill the Empire) It turns out the Legion’s wage demands necessitate new tax revenue, should we maybe reform the system? No, make every free man a Roman citizen, artificially increase the tax base. Travel the Empire as Hadrian once did, seeing how the provinces are governed and defended, maybe even inspire loyalty from the peoples there. No, antagonise patrician and plebeian alike by making them pay for expensive infrastructure projects which I may not even acknowledge or even order destroyed. A historic moment has arrived. The Parthian King of Kings wishes to marry his daughter to me to create a lasting peace? No, slaughter the Parthians at the wedding and declare myself Parthicus Maximus and the new Alexander. Honestly, the guy had it coming.

The tomb of Cleopatra was located within the small temple of Isis, located on the island of Antirohdos, in the harbor of Alexandria. The same small island that the Ptolemaic palace was located, and settled beneath the waves during the Tsunami of 365 AD. This was well known and never really a mystery, the only question is if the temple of Isis was looted and destroyed during the destruction in the 2nd and 3rd centuries of the royal quarter or better known as the Broucheion, or did her temple and tomb survive until the earthquake and Tsunami of 365 AD.

I think about every scenario is possible except aliens. His tomb was no secret so during the revolts and massacres it could've easily been entered and plundered. The crystal sarcophagus intrigues me as I didn't know the ancients worked with such large objects of crystal. If it was glass I can see it melting during a firestorm. That would definitely change what you would search for.

For if Richard The Third can hitherto turn up when digging down into an innocuous car park in Leicester city centre, there's but a flicker of a chance others might just turn up to. On that thought, Medusa has just walked into my room without permission and told in stone takes on an all too different aspect entirely. What a turn up for the books.
