@@ToltecMerc Nice maybe we will get to see some of them if they are electronics based?

I've said it before, but your knowledge of the system and how it works is the difference between your channel and, literally, any other channel. Most would just swap another power supply in and call it good, but you go the extra mile to figure out why the power supply failed. I love Joey's Channel and he's still learning but you are literally light years ahead of him because of your experience. I run a small engine repair business and don't just replace carburetors because they aren't working, I rebuild the original carburetor because there's no reason to replace something when you know how to fix the original problem. You sir deserve way more credit than you're given and should have many more subscribers than you do, but you'll get there.

Thanks for the kind words! I do enjoy the challenge of power supply repair. For me, it's also not practical to buy a new supply every time I encounter a dead one. My profit margin is tight!
@jamesk93757 күн бұрын
@@ToltecMerc that's why I rebuild original carburetors versus just slapping replacement on the machine. You demonstrate a skill and knowledge that most people don't have

When I receive a PC SMPS (one of those vertical or horizontal mini tower types) and I find the fault, I tell myself: the troubleshooting method that I learned with the toltecmerc master: it works, that is, I test in diode mode first without power, I then power and measure voltages and record all my measurements by hand in a personal notebook (kept in my desk drawer) to refer to later when I receive another one from the same manufacturer even if the models have small changes in the part numbers of the components used. Another way to say it: Thanks to you, I don't fear receiving any switching power supply from some electronic device for a checkup or diagnosis. When I first saw the length of the video I thought: What the hell happened to that MoBo? Did the CPU die? Excellent double repair. Thank you very much for sharing sir. It made my day because I like long videos (length). All the best.

Wishing you a very happy and successful 2025 with many more satisfying repairs. I am very glad I found your channel, because of your professional, no-nonsense approach backed by actual knowledge vs. a “let’s change this and see what happens” strategy. I have few subscriptions and you are in the top 3 with MendItMark and Mick (buyitfixit). Cheers!!

Great repair video. Question: usually a power supply supplies power but you are using it as a load, please explain that concept. Thanks
@ToltecMerc6 күн бұрын
I think the device you are seeing is my DC Electronic Load. That is not a power supply. It acts a resistance for the PS5 power supply that I am working on. It is the best way to test that a supply is working properly without being inside the piece of equipment.

I don't have any 1016 dumps as those are European consoles and I don't really ever see those models.

I knew it wasn't going to be an easy power supply fix when you fixed the console in less than 10 mins. Had a similar issue on a 400FR where fuse and fusible resistor were fine but the same pfc mosfet was damaged and one took heat on the board but it was fine.

Good job 😊 but why you use the HDMI ENCODER Brand NUVOTON?
@TechTronics77 күн бұрын
I think Panasonic sold the Chip design to Nuvoton
@ToltecMerc7 күн бұрын
All of the newer HDMI encoder ICs for the PS5 will be marked Nuvoton. Panasonic sold that division of their company. It's still the same part, just a different name.
