One of my favorite repair channels to watch. The OP is low on ego, and high on skills, which is somewhat of a rare combo these days.

I get so excited when these videos get posted, watch them on the train home from work. I have done 2 hdmi port repairs on PS5 so far. FYI the hdmi diode readings from one of your previous videos really helped me. Also I went and bought the exact same hdmi breakout board as you. 😂 Hopefully after some practice I can do advanced repairs like swapping the southbridge and hdmi encoder. Thanks and keep them coming.

Thunderbolt and lightning, very very frightening indeed! Oh master Toltec, master Toltec, let me go. Bismallah, noooo, I will not let you go, will not let you go... Disheartening how shameless humans are to other humans just to make a buck or two by selling a pile of brokenness without being transparent about it. There are quite a few folks who would still buy a console like this with an accurate description, if for nothing less than to try their luck or simply just learn. Like they say, karma will catch up to them. And you, sir, have plenty of good karma coming your way for sharing your knowledge. These videos are like true crime detective stories, so engaging and interesting. Thank you (yet again)!! Oh, and good luck with the move; I hope it's all happening for good reasons!

Excellent double repair. Thank you very much for sharing sir. When you mentioned lightning, I thought the worst (the APU is dead or some of the nearby ICs are damaged). All the best. PS: Please sir: (9:58 exactly) What is the name of that dark (black) tool that you place to prevent heat radiation? Available on the market? Looks much better than Kapton tape or heating pads. Very grateful in advance. An affectionate greeting from Mexico.

Very Impressive, Most technicians would have written this off. If you were in the UK I would have sent my PS5 in to you for Repair. If this wasn’t an “eBay special” shouldn’t the fuse on the power supply have blown? I mean if that fuse survived a lightning strike, then why is it even there?
@ToltecMerc6 ай бұрын
The main fuse rarely blows. It would take a short of the bridge rectifier. The 0.1 ohm fusible resistor usually dies first.

@Sydney2686 ай бұрын
Yep this is the exactly the problem with fault finding in any field, first you have to fix the previous "repair" attempt before you even discover the actual problem, which would have been a lot easier if you had looked at it first - so annoying

Perhaps. I also wonder if they gave up when they saw the lightning damage on the ethernet port and just threw the South Bridge back on just so there were no missing parts. I really don't know.

Looks like the surge usually travels through the Ethernet port. Since my house was hit and it took out my router and hub I only connect expensive devices to my network via WiFi.
