That likely is a silly retcon but that one is not really too terrible. Something being named after someone is not the problem. It's when it's named after someone that just happens to have the name relating to what he invented. What we hear in the video is dumb because the name "land raider" already made sense without us knowing the dude who made it happen to have land is his name. Another example would be the joke chat mentioned about the emperor's name being Jimmy space and making the space marines. Space was not invented by Jimmy it just happens to be his last name and it's a dumb coincidence that just is not necessary for the overall story.

It's not really a retcon. Land Raiders were introcuced in 1988, Arkhan Land was first mentioned in 1990 as the re-discoverer of the technology. Also, he just called it Raider Pattern Main Battle Tank and wasn't happy that everyone just called it Land's Raider. That's older than some of the Space Marine legions. But I think the funniest part about Land is the fact he cloned and augmented a cyber monkey. Monkeys being extinct for thousands of years by this point, apart from humans, he was convinced they had stingers at the end of their tails, so that's what his cyber monkey got.
