That likely is a silly retcon but that one is not really too terrible. Something being named after someone is not the problem. It's when it's named after someone that just happens to have the name relating to what he invented. What we hear in the video is dumb because the name "land raider" already made sense without us knowing the dude who made it happen to have land is his name. Another example would be the joke chat mentioned about the emperor's name being Jimmy space and making the space marines. Space was not invented by Jimmy it just happens to be his last name and it's a dumb coincidence that just is not necessary for the overall story.

Fun fact: Warhammer 40k is actually named after Jeremy 40k. Well known amongst Games Workshop workers for his love of historical weapons, and utter disdain for the warhammer. Him and Jonathan Warhammer surprisingly developed a close friendship, and Jeremy would even take inspiration from Jonathan's previous work, Warhammer, to create his own universe set in the grim dark far future of the year 40,000
