@@dynamitegunpowder Yeah, I do see that in these in these shorts, especially the excessive beatings from Tom’s owner which I didn’t include the offscreen beatings however to keep the video’s runtime enjoyable. Though I also like to point out, I missed the first part in Switchin’ Kitten where Tom is thrown out, included the Tom getting hit with a bone but removed the scene where he crumbles into bag or in Landing Stripling, I forgotten when Tom got hit by an airplane. But though I covered a lot in this video at least.

There’s just something about the choppy animation from this era that makes the slapstick look a lot more painful than it did in the MGM and Chuck Jones era shorts.

@wakiloon Well Gene Deitch's short are animated crudely, so the slapstick doesn't work as well (for me at least).

For all you Tom & Jerry fans out there, this was Tom at his most miserable. What isn't helping matters is that he has an abusive owner in this era who tortures Tom in the most horrendous and sadistic ways. To say that he didn't get a victory over Jerry in this era world be an understatement.
