This has nothing to do with Dana trying to help Jon; the UFC are trying to use Jon Jones for clout, to prevent Ngannou from getting any shine. Think a big part of Jon coming back was a deal with the UFC where Jon would get the Stipe fight after winning the belt. Jon was never going to defend the belt against a contender, especially a new fighter instead of a legend like Stipe.
