President Dwight Eisenhower, Republican, uttered these words on November 8, 1954: “Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid.”

Not the Final president from the "Greatest" generation, that's Jimmy Carter. This guy, RIP, was a warmonger that didn't get his second term so his son took over his unfinished business: invading Iraq. Illegally. People have short memories.

He made the world stand up and take notice that the United States was not to be messed with. He could have chosen diplomacy and try to negotiate his way through the Iraq situation but he wanted to rule with an iron fist and make it known that this was a powerful nation and at the time he was in office, it was a powerful force in the world.
