Tom Watson appeared in the very first episode of Waterloo Road, helping the old headmaster calm down on the school's roof. Seven years later and Tom finds himself in a very similar situation, with a very different outcome.

I'd completely forgotten that he started on the roof in the first episode, until I read about the connection afterwards! I wish we'd seen Tom's funeral though. They could have had some of the old characters there, like Josh, Chlo and Mika, maybe even Steph, Rachel, Chris, Chalky and Matt. At least Tom's with Izzie now. RIP.

They should have had a flashback or dream sequence at the start of Tom’s last episode. Dreaming about what he’d been through, Lorna and Izzie dying, the school blowing up, and then flashbacks of some of the characters calling his name (Jack, Izzie, Lorna, Andrew, Grantly, Steph, Rachel, Eddie etc). And maybe his last words could’ve been “Izzie” or “Lorna”. It would’ve been a nice nod to the show’s history, something they didn’t do much of.

no, the roof he fell from is the school in Scotland which was when the school was closed in Rochdale. aka the set was due to be knocked down and they couldn't keep it up for longer so they worked it into the plot with the school shutting down.
