"if for no other reason than what it represents" The impossible task of making a perfect sequel to an already iconic 80s movie? I might be mistaken but Tom Cruise is basically the first to pull off this since Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron made T2 Judgment day. Hollywood have done ridiculous number of attempts with everyting from Indiana Jones to Robocop being fails. I would mention Total Recall but it was released in 1990
@jackmanning11172 жыл бұрын
@@benlunch7618 and the insane thing is that T2 came out in 1991 just a few years after the first one. It was very much when audiences were expecting it. It’s one thing to make a great sequel right after the original, but making a great sequel after 30 years? That’s something else entirely. Star Wars failed, Jurassic Park didn’t necessarily fail but it didn’t go well. Top Gun: Maverick is truly a unique accomplishment and I don’t know how Tom and the team pulled it off

@Jason-me1bs2 жыл бұрын
@@Ex0rz But it’s not the same thing. It’s a future dystopian setting so your free to write any story and has a new lead so your not tied into how that character is still a serving officer etc. Top Gun was an 80s feel good movie with many character arcs and to tie up all those things to make a sequel 30 years later that stays true to the original but also looked fresh on the screen is indeed a first and I doubt we will see a repeat of that success in our life time. Point to note, it honoured the original material without any PC nonsense and ticked all the boxes. I mean, they even managed to find a plausible way to put him back in the cockpit of an F14 for goodness sake which, for all of us was a must as the Tomcat became as much of a star as Maverick in the movie as well as a great way to say why he was still in the Navy with him being a test pilot plus iceman becoming the main man so always looked out for him. Look at all the variables and it’s never been done and not even close. On another note, many people were not satisfied with BR 2049 fans included as it was a little underwhelming. In contrast Top Gun fans were blown away and could see how much thought went into delivering in so many expectations.

@@nobytes2 Religion is so much more than just praying to God. Otherwise it wouldn't have been the foundation of Western society, law, technology, art and philosophy and the most successful and productive countries in human history. It's easy to belittle and ridicule religion and faith, but one doesn't have to believe in God to recognise that Christian values create and maintain healthy, safe and productive societies; much more so than any secular equivalent. Take, for instance, the Christian value of sex within wedlock. This discourages the sexualisation of children and adolescents, teenage pregnancies, STDs and single mothers. Statistically, children raised within a marriage are many times less likely to suffer short and long term psychological and physical disorders and even premature death. The same applies to men and women in marriage. This is just one of many examples of Christian values that results in better societies and without any reference to God.

The military nowadays arent stereotypical buff jocks lmfao. I can tell you from experience, your average mf that joins the military, are complete fucking nerds. The people that play war thunder, squad, arma, obsess over Anime, Halo, and all this shit, are the ones that end up joining lol. Especially if your pilot, you need a PHD in physics and you need alot of post secondary education for shit. Especially if your a radar officer. Stereotypical jock type people already have a massive friend group, so they feel no need to join. But your average dude that wants to gets roped in because of the "comradery" doesnt exactly have alot of friends. Thats just what I personally noticed tho

Just got out of seeing Top Gun Maverick and man... What a f*cking experience.. I've not been this satisfied with a movie in years! Im so glad I was able to see this masterpiece in the best way on the big screen as it was meant to be. The emotion and the thrills.. Such an unforgettable film. I even got abit teary eyed and during one of the best and arguably the best scene in the movie.. Thank you Val Kilmer.🙏 As someone who grew up watching the original, and slowly over the years gained much respect for the first movie, who honestly never thought we'd even get a sequel in the first place given the amount of work and effort needed to pull something like this off, boy im glad we did. What an absolute sendoff for Pete "Maverick" Mitchell himself. Thank you, Tom Cruise for your work and dedication to making this movie the best possible experience. Man.. What a f*cking ride it was! WHOOOO!!👌😎👌

I remember all the talk and excitement we had when we heard Tom Cruise and the rest of the cast was on the same base as us training and working with Top Gun. We never saw him but dude was it awesome knowing this film was going to be coming out and what you see in the movie is REAL. It’s hard to really describe what working in aviation is like for people that habit done it before but the movie really was spot on. Loved every second of the movie

Tom、 I saw Maverick two days ago. It was、 freaking epic! Highly recommend everyone to renew their cinema experience、we've all gotten lost in the Netflix at home experience and forgotten the real buzz of the cinema screen. I saw it in 4DX and 4DX was indeed made for this type of movie. Unforgettable ride. By the way、during the 4DX experience、 take a moment to watch other peoples reactions around the room...Pure enjoyment.

This movie was incredible and the whole 3rd act had me on the edge of my seat. This is a movie we needed in hollywood to give us hope that great movies without agendas and messages with some patriotism and masculinity can still be made and are absolutely amazing. Great great great film.
