I remember those days :) I skated with Matt (Hensley) at a demo in NY. Nice guy. He changed street skating for ever. Skating will always be for me, the best years of my life. Everything Tom spoke about, I lived as well. Tribe is the perfect word to describe not just toms group, but the entire scene. There was a commonality and a brotherhood to it. Mike V said it best on one of his shows: "If you saw a kid with a board, you were like hey whos that kid? then you welcome him in and we all skate."
