Similarly… Here in Columbus we have a drag queen who hosts a live music cabaret every Sunday evening called Don’t Tell Gretta. Gretta is a genius on the keyboard and she invites local singers and entertainers to perform at these cabarets. Sometimes it’s well rehearsed and sometimes it’s strictly off the cuff but always fun and a departure from your typical drag show. Anyway, as a feature she surprises her performers with a segment called Dream Roles where they’re asked to come up with a role, any role, they’d like to play that they know they’ll never get, and then perform a number from that show. It’s usually awesome and gives them a chance to finally shine in a number that’s not meant for them. A friend and I did a Gretta in September and I went with Dance Ten, Looks Three. I wasn’t even sure the lyrics would come to mind but they did and I killed everyone. So much fun and a great concept.
