Announcers like Tom Durkin are nothing short of awesome. He's got to know the name of every horse in the race, the jockey riding him, and the color of the jockey's silks. And then be able to call the race in real time. Then, as soon as the race is over, he's got to forget this group of horses and do the same thing with another group of horses, jockeys and silks. And do that for anywhere between 8 and 12 races a day (depending on the track).

As somebody who likes to watch TVG 2 (Now FanDuel Racing) while working around the house, I will miss Tom Durkin....definitely one of the best ever. Btw, in the second race on the video, I appreciate the Mel Brooks reference, too (It's Good to Be King...a running gag from History of the World, Pt. 1)

This is the NYRA broadcast. NYRA doesn't have it's own TV channel, therefore they typically have their broadcasts picked up by local spectator sports programing channels during the day. Also, TVG will pickup the call from post-to-wire, but don't usually use the NYRA audio during post parade nor after the finish.
