its always funny to me when I show this to a young family member, and although they DO kind of chuckle at some parts, because one thing that did cross over to the modern attention span is Tom's randomness, they seldom understand why this was funny 😂😂 I always have to explain that in this time, we were growing up and didn't have google, and KZbin and the internet every waking moment of the day. so we didn't see everything in the world at the same time all at once constantly being bombarded and surrounded by information and millions of people competing for our attention. I had to explain that we were desensitized to movement and light and we, by nature, could sit still and watch this program and follow along with conversations, and we had the patience to wait to see what the payoff was at the end because a tv show lasted 30 minutes or so, and didn't last 15 seconds for out attention span before the next 15 seconds tried to capture our attention with something new and different. I also explain that this was a more innocent and child like way of doing weird things to get people's attention in public, as opposed to the corny dangerous and inappropriate things that youtubers do today, like touch a random stranger's food or pick fights with random people and get sh0t.
