@teddy boy The movie was a Colonel Parker movie. The whole thing was Parker on his deathbed telling his version of how he was so fabulous to Elvis and made him a superstar while the movie was actually showing how Parker ended up destroying Elvis because of his greed. I did have a problem with the timeline and certain facts being distorted but everyone walked out of the theater with so much love and respect for Elvis and that was the whole point of making this movie.
@debra27002 жыл бұрын
@teddy boy I understand and honestly the first part of the movie was too frantic and it did turn many people off but it settled down and the ending is what got everyone. Even if Austin gets an Oscar, even he couldn't come close to the power and emotion that the audience felt when they showed the real Elvis at the end of the movie.

@teddy boy well of course if we wanna get critical I expected a shit ton of poetic liscensing in the movie. It was fast paced at times but artistically I felt that they were replicating the fast-paced lifestyle that was Elvis. Yes it was directed more towards the persepctive of Col. Parker. It definietly made me feel a certain way towards him and cemented the feelings I had prior on how he treated him. Understandable points!

@@leebillington1909 Austin is polite and charming. It's said you know you are getting old when you start to pick on the youth of the times. I have been doing that for a while now. He seems to embody all of the things that I have been complaining about missing from todays youth. They are void of manners, void of emotions, and void of the ability to even communicate beyond the clipped abbreviated message they can hammer out on a text. texting is the worst form of communication we have today. Now this young man comes along and is graceful, and has a very quiet elegance about him. Every word is thoughtful and well spoken. I hope that he is a representation of a new generation that appreciates everything this life has to give. He truly is a breath of fresh air.

Hollywood needs to make this happen immediately. He would be perfect playing him. I would love to see a remake of East Of Eden or Rebel Without A Cause or even Giant for that matter. I think he would be unbelievable in any of those roles. Even though he is 30 and Dean was 23-24 when he made his films, Austin still looks much younger than he is. He could pass for early 20s still. As a lifelong James Dean fan and seeing many actors over the year try to emulate or be him and still come up short no matter how good they are, I never thought I would say this but I think we found the next James Dean and his name is Austin Butler
@D-RayMovieReviews2 жыл бұрын
He would be perfect as James Dean. A few years ago I thought maybe Timothee Chalamet would be a great Dean but I think Butler is even more closer in raw talent and charisma. He seems to naturally have an old school hollywood style and acting range very similar to James Dean or a young Brando or young Deniro or. even more contemporary actors like Brad Pitt or Leonardo DiCaprio when they were young. I don't know, Austin Butler just naturally exudes Dean like charisma. Even some pictures of him at Cannes Film Festival were very reminiscent of Dean in the 1950s. I hope Hollywood gets on board and cast him quick in a James Dean biopic or a proper remake of James Deans 3 films. very soon

@@no1nestandsalone387 with all due respect, you're sadly mistaken. I'm from Memphis, and have worked with EPE and know staff members. I've sat at the gigantic table in 'the war room' in the EPE office where they tried to talk Lisa Marie out of marrying Michael Jackson. I've been told some eye opening stories from certain staff (I don't want to mention names in here to be honest, because I've learned some REAL behind the scenes shit) anybody could lie about this, but I'm telling you the truth... this movie is NOT what you seem to think it is... the true story is TOTALLY INSANE .. it's so full of unbelievable, yet totally true details, bizarre extremes, biploar disorder (for example, most people think Gladys was a sweet demure soft spoken woman, but she actually had bipolar disorder, just like Elvis.. behind the doors of Graceland, Gladys was known for going into manic episodes, fueled by alcohol and amphetamines, smashing things and screaming- and that's just Gladys, which is nothing compared to some of the bizarre crazy extremes Elvis created for himself and everyone around him.... the drugs and sex and absolute abandon and violence and distorted reality are unparalleled even to this day.. Elvis was torturing himself and everyone else around him ever since his mother died... Colonel Tom sold Elvis down the river when the IRS determined he was an illegal immigrant, and to save his own ass, he sent Elvis into the army and ruined his career... the downward spiral again when Gladys died, and his musical career was limited by Colonel Toms publishing rights greed. Elvis disavowed Christianity, and again studying all theology, all religions looking for truth.. he eventually became a numerologist by the time he committed suicide to coincide with the date of his mother's death, chickening out on the first day, then following through on the next. she died at 42 on August 14th, Elvis was 42 on August 14th when he was initially going to commit suicide, but followed through with the suicide on the 15th, or what we would perceive as the 16th of August, because his days overlapped differently than ours. he was an extremely flawed childish unenlightened human in so many ways, yet still the most amazing, handsome, brilliant, beautiful, talented special gift from the universe the human race has ever seen.. this movie glosses over everything... it contains none of the 'warts and all' truths about the excess and drugs and self-destruction that are so relevant these days, and will be even more relevant in the future, as future potential Elvis fans could have learned from his story, and perhaps even saved their own self-destruction in a quest for fame fueled by drugs and depression and an ego fueled inability to open and just cry... Elvis was the world's most famous human in the history of the human race, but he was also the loneliest man on Earth... it's tragic and amazing and inspirational, but you're not going to find any of that in this bullshit creepy failure to create the final Elvis Bible on film... instead, tomorrow's generations will look at this film and think Elvis was a flamboyant hairdresser... they could have easily used CGI and pseudo deepfake technology to enhance Austin Butler's horrifyingly UN-ELVIS appearance. Elvis fans demand Elvis. we want Elvis. we don't want Austin Butler's face, no offense but it's not quite as handsome as Elvis. nor does he talk like him, no matter how many people leave comments about the remarkable likeness.. it's actually not remarkable at all. it's depressing. they fumbled the ball
@StinkFinger20232 жыл бұрын
@@no1nestandsalone387 by the way. Elvis was very flawed in so many ways, including in his suicide.. he thought his mother was 42 when she died, and he tried to coincide his death with hers as a portal, but she was actually 46 years old, because she lied on her marriage license.. so he even got that wrong Elvis was not a perfect guy. he was abusive and mean, and too afraid to admit when he made mistakes, often too thoughtless to apologize for some of his unimaginably rude behavior, and some horrifying illegal behavior, like overdosing the teenage daughter of a long time fan on the drug Belladonna, putting the teenage girl into a permanent vegetative coma, and never even saying he was sorry... or the time an actress that remains unnamed complained about having her car blocked in at Graceland when she was ready to leave, so Elvis threw a pool cue at her, like a javelin, hitting her in the chest and permanently damaging a nerve that made one of her breasts sag distorted... and he never even said he was sorry, because he was actually an asshole in many ways... but we still love him... I literally love him... we all do but to truly love Elvis, one must first understand his faults and flaws and weaknesses... loving the Crystal clean squeaky bullshit version Priscilla has been pumping out ever since she 'appeared out of the woodwork pretending to still be Priscilla Presley' doesn't take us closer to Elvis. it takes us right back to the same bullshit story they've been telling us since 1977.. it's not the Elvis Bible it's just a repeat of the same garbage, only this time they're taking more of a look at Colonel Tom than Elvis. the more accurate title for this movie would have been THE WORST COLONEL TOM IMPERSONATION ON EARTH (featuring a guy who looks absolutely nothing like Elvis whatsoever)

Presley approved: Priscilla will approve ANYTHING that doesn't show the real grit that happened behind the scenes... thanks to her greedy manipulative ass, they're STILL pumping out the same homogenized white-washed fairytale, minus all the really interesting and bizarre facets.

I agree with Pricilla, Elvis could have been bigger his father got him roles as a Singer...I believe Elvis could have been a dramatic actor. .All those singing roles were great but Elvis always knew he could do more 🌹
